“For centuries, those translating the Word of God from the Greek and Hebrew texts have recognised the great responsibility they have in producing accurate versions of the Bible, in which nothing can be added or omitted. They knew that it would be no easy task: these Greek and Hebrew scholars knew that they could not always translate one word with another single word. They also knew that there would be occasions in which a different word might be used instead of the ones that they chose. Therefore, these translators decided that, when a word or words had to be added so that the English reader could understand what the Greek and Hebrew words meant, they would add those words in italic type.”

The Battle for the Bible is still raging within the English world. Will the critics ever find the Bible they believe faithfully represents the Bible God wrote? Well, I found a man by the name of George Washington Moon that wrote a book criticizing the Reviser’s and their English. So, who is G. W. Moon?
George Washington Moon (1823-1909)
George Washington Moon was born in London in 1823 and educated at a private school in Barnet. He wrote a number of poetical works as well as several books and pamphlets on English grammar and usage. The latter often focussed critically on the language used by various contemporary writers (including the translators of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible) and this led to a number of counter-attacks and ongoing controversies. When will they ever have enough Study Bibles? Here is one using the NIV text which I thought was laid aside for the ESV but apparently not so. Satan is still asking that question of Genesis 3:1 ..Yea, hath God said…? Stay with the Authorized King James Bible.

Dr. D. A. Waite has been a friend of mine for many many years and has been a strong defender of the Greek Text underlying the King James Bible and the King James Bible itself. The Four Reasons for Defending the King James Bible booklet was “taken from a message delivered on Wednesday, July 21, 1993, at the 15th Annual Meeting of the Dean Burgon Society..” and is also a very very brief summary of Dr. Waite’s larger book Defending the King James Bible. I trust you will read carefully Dr. Waite’s defense for the English Bible that has been used of God for over four hundred years in the English speaking world.
