‘On July 9, 2011, Melissa and I went to Des Moines, to celebrate her mom’s birthday. Our youngest daughter, Annie, who turned 16 just 9 days before, went with us. We enjoyed a good meal and conversation at the Machine Shed Restaurant. After dinner, we gave Annie a small gift bag. Inside was a key fob and a car key. Her eyes lit up and a smile shot from ear to ear. She thought we might be pranking her when we told her to go to the parking lot and find her birthday present.
She used the keyless entry and the car’s horn to find a shiny, bright red Chevy Cobalt sitting in a parking space under a shade tree. She was in disbelief. “Is this for real? Is this really mine?” We told her to get in and see if the key started it. She did and it did. It was her first car and tears of joy fell. She immediately named the car “Rosie.”
On the way home, I rode with Annie, while Melissa followed in our car. Riding in the left lane, I told Annie to get in the right lane. She turned on her signal and BAM, to the right lane she went…cutting off the car in that lane. “We’re going to have to work on your highway driving skills.” I told her.
A few weeks later, I stood in the front yard and watched Annie drive off for her first day as a junior in high school. I remember thinking, “I guess she doesn’t need us to take her to school anymore.”
It seemed like just a few weeks more, but it was a year later, when I stood in the front yard and watched Annie drive away in Rosie. This time she was headed off for her first day as a senior in high school. In that bittersweet moment, a flurry of “first days” went racing through my mind. Our little girl was growing up – and too fast. I wondered if she would still need me?
A week or so ago, Annie called me with bad news; Rosie died on the side of the road. She had taken the car to a mechanic and was still having trouble with it. Reality hit. She had owned the car for eight and a half years, putting well over one hundred thousand miles one it. It was a used car when we bought it; the time had come to replace Rosie.
Annie and Melissa did the preliminary work, looking online for a new car. They narrowed the selection down to two, both at Dakota Motors in Farmington, Minnesota. Annie had never purchased a car before and Melissa helped her through the process of getting pre-approved for a car loan. With everything in order, Annie and I would go to look at the cars together.
Driving home from Oklahoma, I stopped for the night in Missouri. The next day I would pick Annie up from the school where she teaches. Albeit treacherous, northern Missouri was beautiful. Fresh snow clung to tree branches, fence posts bushes, utility poles and even powerlines – anything it could stick to, including the road. A grey sky with limited visibility made it feel colder than it really was. The roads were icy.
Traffic was moving about 50 m.p.h. on the interstate. Every now and then a car would go flying by in the unplowed left lane; we would usually see them in a ditch further up the road. I called Annie to let her know I would be about thirty minutes late, due to the weather.
If you drive by any elementary, junior high, or high school, around 8 a.m., or 3 p.m., in any town USA, you’ll run into heavy traffic. Parents will be lined up on the side of the street to drop off or waiting to pick up their kids. I arrived at 12:30, so there were no lines. I parked in a space and waited for Annie to come out. I kept thinking, “It’s been years since I picked this kid up from school.” And now, I am picking her up again, but this time she is a teacher.
June was excited. Although she has never been to this school, she seemed to know Annie was coming. A person walked out the door, bundled up so tight I couldn’t even see their face. Their arms were weighted down with bags, a water bottle, books and such; but I recognized her walk. Sitting in the passenger seat, June put her paws on the dashboard, pressing her wet nose to the windshield. Her whole body wiggled with excitement. Annie opened the door and June jumped out to greet her.
After putting her bags in the back, Annie got in the front seat. She settled in, pushed back her hood, took off her scarf and stocking cap and loosened her coat. I could finally see her face. “Hi.” As I backed out of the parking space, she said, “It’s been a long time since I waited at school for you to pick me up.” That comment warmed my heart.
At the dealership, I rode along as Annie drove both cars. We asked a lot of questions, looked over both vehicles carefully and checked their history. I had her look in the manual to see when routine maintenance expenses would be coming. This was a first-time buying experience for her and I needed to let her do the work. I was just there to help. We asked the dealer if he could do any better on the price. Either car would have been fine, but I thought one was a little better than the other. She weighed the benefits of each out loud, then asked “Which one should I go with?”
“That’s up to you, kid. I bought your first car. This time you’re writing the check, so you need to make that decision.” She thought hard and seemed a bit confused. It would have been easier if I told her which one to go with, but I wasn’t going to do that. As she pondered her choices, I reminded her, “You do have a third option. You can go with the 2015, the 2016, or you can wait. You don’t have to buy a car tonight.”
But she had looked hard, done the research and was ready to make a purchase. She looked at the dealer on the other side of the desk. “I’m going to go with the 2016.” Bart was in and out of the room several times completing the paperwork and making copies. I asked Annie if she was excited or nervous. “Both.” She said, “I’m excited about getting the car, but nervous about having car payments.” I laughed, knowing exactly how she felt. She was thrilled, but I also know that sinking feeling of uncertainty, deep in your stomach that comes whenever you’re about to make a big purchase.
“That nervous feeling in your gut goes away after you’ve made two or three payments.” She wrinkled her face. I told her, “For what it’s worth, you’re buying the car I would have picked.” That seemed to put her a little more at ease. Still, she was nervous writing the check – it was clearly the biggest check she’d ever written in her life. I was proud of her.
As she got in the car, I heard her refer to the car as Sally. I followed her out of the parking lot. Our youngest daughter just made her first car purchase. I climbed into my van, watching Annie in her new ride, and said, “Goodbye, Rosie – Hello Sally.”

‘Blood tests, x-rays, CAT scans were being taken; heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels were being monitored; intravenous flows of medicine were being administered and adjusted with feedback from the blood tests. As I sat with my relative for several days, I couldn’t help but think that evolution had nothing to do with any of the science involved.
There were at least six doctors of different specialties seeing him – Infectious Disease, Cardiologist, Gastro-Intestinal, Pulmonologist and Nephrologist, plus, of course, his Primary Care Physician. Not one of them needed to use evolution to look at his case or to analyze the various tests and results. Evolution, you see, does not rely on the Scientific Method and does not have any real application in the practice of ANY science. Rather, it is an attempt to explain biological origins and developments without God. In other words, evolution merely provides “just so stories” to teach the secular notion that we have NOT been designed and built by our great Creator.
Yet, we see a continuing deception about how supposedly “Charles Darwin” should be “the one rallying cry” for all things scientific! Such is the pernicious deceit of evolution. Indeed, this month in secular academic and progressive circles, there is another push to celebrate “International Darwin Day” (February 12, Darwin’s birthday) – for “principles of intellectual bravery … scientific thinking, and hunger for truth as embodied in Charles Darwin.” Darwin Day is primarily pushed by such groups as The American Humanist Association (a society advocating for atheists) and their leftist allies in media, government and academia.
My recent experience at the hospital, though, revealed to me once again that science treats human bodies as precisely designed-and-specified complex machines. This, of course, begs the logical inference that with such design and specification, there must be a great Designer!
The doctors were monitoring everything. Was body temperature normal at 98.6 F? Were oxygen levels in the blood above 90%? Was blood pressure normal? Were heart rates normal? Were key enzyme, protein and sugar levels in the blood normal? Was urine output normal? In other words, was the human body functioning according to design specification?
Doctors know what to expect for healthy function of heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and other organs. Outside of the normal range, people get sick and die. The normal range does not change.
But to the modern ear, the theme of everything is “change”. Change is the master key. This is a philosophy that has grown out of evolution … applied not only to biology but to human society. Nothing is fixed, everything evolves. The belief that everything evolves has had a disastrous effect in many areas – much of which has been discussed in these letters.
Not only does this philosophy of change – of the evolution of all things – go against biblical truth, it goes against what has been called “self-evident” truth. The American Declaration of Independence includes these words: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
These are transcendent and eternal truths – we are all equal before the cross of Jesus Christ, and by extension, therefore, before the seat of justice. We have a Creator, and He has endowed us with a right to life and freedom as individuals!
Here is another reason why we need to keep proclaiming the truth about evolution. Evolutionism has made “change for the sake of change” tolerated – even when the change has perverted eternal and transcendent truths! We now redefine marriage! We redefine genders! We redefine the taking of innocent human life and call it good! Fortunately, we still have freedoms in this country – but other nations are losing them. Sadly, we are moving in that direction, but for now, in spite of abortion law, we are still free to protest and to lead people to honor the Sanctity of Human Life – as was just celebrated again this January in America!
Under evolutionism, change is to be embraced and facilitated. It is supposedly inevitable. And it is given a positive term – “progressive”. This is actually the same as what the Nazi leaders at the Nuremberg Trials of 1946 claimed when they famously defended their actions in the Concentration Camps by arguing that they were simply “giving evolution an assist”.
We can basically make society whatever we want it to be because constant change means that nothing is permanent, eternal or transcendent. Indeed, with such a philosophy, traditional values must be fought against so mankind can move out of its “current state of imperfection” and toward the enlightened end of evolutionary progress – which tends to be the whims of a dictator.
But this is just not biblical. In fact, it is diabolical. We should not want to celebrate evolutionism with “Darwin Day”. Rather, we should want to continue to expose it for the anti-science, anti-God, destructive, authoritarian-supporting force that it truly is! As Christians, we must keep proclaiming the truth, the whole truth of God’s Word, which does not change but “abides forever” (1 Peter 1:25).

The ailing woman liked the idea. She gave her 12-year-old to Camposeco-Montejo, and they struck off for the U.S. in late 2016 just as another border crisis was developing. Arrested by Border Patrol agents, Camposeco-Montejo used a bogus birth certificate to claim he was the father of the boy and was given the catch-and-release treatment under the “family loophole” in U.S. policy.

John McEnroe was an excellent tennis player but that’s just about all he was. He was a loud mouth and in a video he spouts that he sides with sodomites and that lifestyle as opposed to those who believe marriage is only for one man and one woman. McEnroe may have his opinion but so may Margaret Court!

It’s hard to believe, or is it? ‘Democratic lawmakers in Connecticut want to create a new state police department to “specialize in investigating far-right extremist groups and individuals.”
In 2017, the state of Connecticut reported 111 crimes motivated by bias against a particular race, ethnicity, or religion. Most of the crimes targeted blacks and Jews.
The new police department aims to stop these crimes before they happen, explains Senate President Martin Looney.

“Unfortunately, people who entertain hateful beliefs…are protected as long as [those beliefs] don’t result in hate-crime actions. That’s what we’re talking about,” says Looney. “We want to be more aggressive in enforcing our laws and identifying likely sources of potential domestic terrorism acts against religious institutions and ethnic institutions.”
As noted by Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano, a Republican, the proposal is inappropriate in that it fails to mention left-wing extremism. Extremism exists on both sides and is wrong on both sides, and Democrats must acknowledge this fact in order to effectively combat hate crime.
“When they put a right-wing label on extremism, they do that to elicit a political response,” argues Fasano, adding that Republicans are “on the same page” when it comes to protecting the state’s residents from hate crimes.
Author’s Note: The nature of this proposal reminds me of the Thought Police from George Orwell’s famous dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, a specialized force that goes after people whose thoughts conflict with the views of the government.
Editor’s Note: When the political leadership of a state found an institution whose sole purpose is to investigate people whose views are of the opposing political party, it has, in effect, established a “thought police.” The intention might be purely political, to propagandize the flaws of the right, but the end effects are beyond measure.

Unsolicited emails can be very interesting. Most of the time the email will tell you what position the sender has politically and religiously. This email from the New Yorker is one example and certainly shows where The New Yorker is politically.

Uncle ‘Al Sharpton said last week on MSNBC that President Trump loses his temper “because he is covering up for his lack of knowledge….Donald Trump always wanted to be in the circles of influence and was always rejected. Always seen as this outer-borough guy whose daddy had money. You know, with Roy Cohn—they were not considered respectable.”
No doubt President Trump has associated himself with disreputable people, been divorced twice and sexually involved with various women. Furthermore, he has made revolting remarks often about disgusting people. Moreover, he is often rude, crude, and lewd, but being castigated by low-life Al Sharpton is outrageous, almost funny.
When one knows some of the highlights, or the lowlights, of Al’s life and listens to him for a few minutes, it is obvious that for him to call Trump ignorant is like a skunk accusing a rabbit of having bad breath.
The Reverend Sharpton is a high priced but lowdown clown who doesn’t seem to know that the foul breath of prejudice is deadly to the soul.
Sharpton’s first marriage was to Marsha Tinsley that lasted about a year. His second marriage was in 1980 to backup singer, Kathy Jordan, whom he met while on a James Brown tour in 1971. They separated in 2004. He has been seen at high profile events with Aisha McShaw, 20 years younger who without any hesitation has claimed to the media that she is Sharpton’s “girlfriend.”
Just Richest, an entertainment publication, declared, “This in itself would not be an issue, as the reverend is at liberty to date owing to his over a decade separation from his wife. But the issue rises from the fact that he is still legally bound to his former wife as their separation is yet to be legalized into a formal divorce.”
Al’s divorce seems to be in question since Heightline reported, “The preacher and his wife got amicably divorced in 2004. It is common knowledge that while still married to Kathy, the Social/political activist had a girlfriend in the person of Aisha McShaw.” Well, if true, it is tragic and no true Baptist preacher would try to defend such sleaze.
Al asked, “Don’t I have a right to date when my marriage has been over for a decade?” Yes, he does but not before he is divorced and there are many news accounts reporting that he is not divorced.
Moreover, his girlfriend dresses like a typical Hollywood floozy and has a daughter from a “previous relationship.” Just the observation of one Baptist about another Baptist.
The Reverend Al was a member of the Church of God that ordained him at age 10. Later he became a Baptist; however, he is a preacher who seldom preaches. When he does preach, it is contemptible preaching. His record reveals him to be a hater of Whites, Jews, and Conservatives of any color.
Al and his buddies at Black Lives Matter and the New Black Panther Party held a protest in defense of anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan and his black racist hate group, the Nation of Islam.
When speaking at New Jersey’s Kean College in 1994, Sharpton said: “White folks was (sic) in the cave while we [blacks] was (sic) building empires … We built pyramids before Donald Trump ever knew what architecture was … we taught philosophy and astrology (sic, astronomy) and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”
Al neglected to mention that on the black continent of Africa, Blacks were so backward, they had never seen a wheel in the 1800s! Oxford University Professor John Baker, reveals in Race that the wheel was unknown in sub-Saharan Africa even in the mid-1800s. Baker quotes the missionary-explorer David Livingstone’s diaries which tells of thousands of Africans in Linyanti, (now Namibia) to see his “vehicles in motion and thus for the first time to observe the rotation of a wheel.”
Al would have us believe that Blacks developed vast civilizations (even the pyramids) yet less than 200 years ago did not know of the wheel. It seems the wheel was first used in Sumer in present-day Iraq, comprising the southern part of Mesopotamia in about 3500 BC, and spread across Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
The Kean College speech featured Sharpton explaining that America’s founders consisted of “the worst criminals, the rejects they sent from Europe … to the colonies.” “So [if] some cracker,” he continued, “come and tell you ‘Well, my mother and father blood go back to the Mayflower,’ you better hold your pocket. That ain’t nothing to be proud of, that means their forefathers was (sic) crooks.”
Real scholarship, huh? Evidently, Al’s forte is not English or history! What was that about “lack of knowledge?”
Al again showed his hatred for America when he said, “While the rest of the country waves the flag of Americana, we understand we are not part of that. We don’t owe America anything—America owes us.”
The Baptist preacher’s statement on perversion clearly puts him in another denomination. He declared, “As a Baptist minister, I don’t have the right to impose my views on anyone else. If committed gay and lesbian couples want to marry, that is their business; none of us should stand in their way.”
As a Baptist minister he has the right and obligation to preach truth. But it seems the reverend might be planning an international office in Sodom.
When David Dinkins (an African American) was mayor of New York City, Sharpton angrily denounced Dinkins (when the black mayor was unsupportive of Sharpton’s activities) in the following terms: “David Dinkins, you wanna be the only nigger on television, only nigger in the newspaper, only nigger that can talk. Don’t cover them, don’t talk to them, ’cause you got the only nigger problem. ‘Cause you know if a black man stood up next to you, they would see you for the whore that you really are.” He also referred to Dinkins as “that nigger whore turning tricks in City Hall.”
Sharpton, like many other Blacks, has no problem using the forbidden word. “There are white niggers. I’ve seen a lot of white niggers in my time.” But, don’t you be so careless.
Sharpton was involved in an incredibly sleazy episode that almost destroyed white, former Assistant District Attorney Steven Pagones who was accused by Tawana Brawley in 1987 of raping her. Al jumped to her defense (since she was black) and was another opportunity to “play to the gallery.” Sharpton was found guilty of defamation of the prosecutor by a jury in a New York court. Moreover, Sharpton has refused to accept responsibility and expresses no regret for defaming Mr. Pagones.
With such a deplorable résumé, it is no surprise that he is powerfully ridiculed on the one side and weakly defended on the other side. Liberals cringe during Al’s television show as he stumbles through hollow, hateful, and humiliating diatribe. Thinking people laugh.
A 2013 Zogby Analytics poll found that one quarter of Blacks said that Al Sharpton speaks for them. Radicals like Sharpton have taken “civil” out of civilization and put “cult” into culture. He speaks with forked tongue so it might be wise for Blacks to be more careful whom they have speak for them.
With Al Sharpton’s dismal, disgraceful, and dubious life, he has the gall to criticize Trump for anything. Maybe this an example of the pot calling the kettle black.
