‘It is this simple: skyrocketing world electricity prices stem from renewables policies. Notwithstanding the avalanche of propaganda we are seeing throughout the country, no wind or solar gets built anywhere in the world without subsidies paid by taxpayers and customers. In Australia’s case these costs are $10 billion a year in grants and network spending.
The genesis of the current malaise has been closures of generating plants which have been demonised by the politically correct. In Europe this is mainly involves coal. Those countries that have been particularly severely hit by the present crisis are the UK and Spain, both of which have closed 80 per cent of their coal capacity – and Germany, which has closed about one third of its coal. Germany also suffers from having closed down most of its nuclear power plant. Japan also followed this policy.
Those countries which have fared well include Korea, where they have been building both coal and nuclear, and the US and Canada, which have gone through energy transformations based on gas from the same fracking process that has been falsely stigmatised in Australia and the UK. The US, however, is now becoming a clone of Europe, with the Biden administration blocking gas and oil developments while doubling up on renewables subsidies.
Around the world we also have seen other contributory factors which have brought on the current crisis, some involved supply constraints especially from Russia. Importantly, there was also a wind drought in Europe – a common occurrence that always leaves wind-dependent systems vulnerable. This coincided with high gas prices, so stocks were run down and prices of gas escalated.
In the UK this was further aggravated by disruption of the nuclear electricity from France. UK and German forward electricity prices are now 2-3 times Australia’s, and because UK prices are inflexible a number of electricity retailers have gone belly up. Germany is importing a great deal of electricity, as well as turning coal back on, and praying that it will receive extra supplies of Russian gas by Christmas. All this has meant a bonanza for Australian gas and coal exports. Ironically, these were interred by the Business Council of Australia report a couple of days ago. The agitprop financed by woke alarmists and vested interests, as presented with qualification in the mainstream media, is seeking to accelerate Australia’s shift to phase out coal. In an indication that actually running a specific business requires more applied intelligence than making broad and illogical generalisations about the sector’s future, the Business Council actually claims we can flourish by reducing the present 75 per cent coal-and-gas share of electricity supply to 15 per cent by 2030 and virtually zero shortly thereafter. Kerry Schott, the departing chair of the Energy Security Board, one of the nation’s four regulatory authorities, is making similar remarks.
Joining the chorus is Malcolm Turnbull’s former top bureaucrat, Martin Parkinson, who says, with a straight face no less, that “We can very rapidly decarbonise the electricity market at zero cost to 70 per cent, and at mild cost to 90 per cent.”
Chalked up to replace Australia’s coal and gas are renewables with their proven record of high cost and low reliability. Due to subsidies these already comprise a lost fifth of supply. Energy Minister Angus Taylor, aware of the political dynamite from a transparent carbon tax, seeks to placate the greenhouse gods with subsidies for extracting hydrogen from water. At least this has the benefit of novelty, as Jonathan Swift reserved the notion of harvesting sunbeams from cucumbers some time ago. Hydrogen will no doubt continue to be promoted as the latest green miracle — there are billions of dollars in grants and subsidies to be snaffled, as the ABC reports:
Premier Dominic Perrottet says a hydrogen strategy unveiled by the NSW government that aims to help the state hit net zero emissions by 2050 is “world-leading”.
The strategy provides up to $3 billion in incentives for green hydrogen production, including tax exemptions, and includes plans for a “hydrogen refuelling highway” between Melbourne and Brisbane.
The truth is that hydrogen cannot be transported through the gas pipeline network and, as even the US Department of Energy acknowledges, there are a host of other technical obstacles and imponderables. If history is any guide, hydrogen is now being blessed with the same unquestioning optimism formerly bestowed on “carbon capture and storage” which, after 15 years of trials, is yet to see commercial relevance anywhere in the world.
The government is offering blandishments to the Nationals in the form of hand-outs for the bush. By all accounts all but a handful of Coalition MPs, led by Matt Canavan, have been seduced by such reprehensible deals.

This week the NSW parliament will start considering a bill to legalise medically-assisted death at the instigation of the person dying.
Morning Double Shot has discontinued daily editorials, so you’re spared from getting the editor’s tortured views on this fraught moral issue.
Instead, reflect on the irony of such legislation being enacted, now in NSW and recently in Queensland, while the Covid-19 pandemic continues to rage.
For coming up to two years, our federation has been ripped apart, our society gutted, and our economy filleted, to prevent deaths from a virus whose pact with the Grim Reaper mostly is confined to harvesting the souls of the elderly and people with other health risk factors who could easily have been taken by old age, or other natural causes, rather than Covid-19.
Yet, at the same time, majorities in our parliaments are determined to make medically-assisted dying for people in extremis lawful.
Our political representatives both fear and embrace death in making laws profoundly affecting our social fabric. Verily, it’s a strange world we now live in.’

Sabin Gold Medal at a Washington D.C. ceremony sponsored “in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Pfizer.” Is it really that surprising a Bill Gates-connected CDC official openly suggested depopulating whites who don’t cooperate with their mandatory vaccine agenda?’

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), around 73.3 million abortions take place every year, with almost 30 per cent of pregnancies ending in abortion.
The data group Worldometer estimates all other causes of death totalled nearly 59 million last year – meaning abortion is responsible for around 55 per cent of all deaths.

By comparison, communicable diseases were estimated to be responsible for 13 million deaths, and cancer for around 8 million worldwide. Coronavirus was reported to be behind more than 1.8 million deaths.
WHO estimates approximately 200,000 abortions take place every day – or more than two every second – meaning more than 3 million abortions have already taken place this year.
Last year, obtaining an abortion in the UK became easier than ever before, with Westminster politicians imposing a liberal abortion regime on Northern Ireland in March to allow abortion up to twelve weeks for any reason, up to 24 for most reasons, and up to birth if the unborn child is deemed to have a disability.
In England, Wales and Scotland, emergency coronavirus measures were used to introduce DIY home abortions, whereby women can now obtain abortion pills following only a telephone or video consultation, and without having been seen in person. ‘Imagine you are watching a movie with a car chase scene. The driver of one car rolls out just before his automobile plunges headlong over a cliff, and the car smashes against rocks as it tumbles down, breaking into pieces and finally exploding.
Now, if you run the film backwards, you will see an explosion producing a dented automobile with broken pieces jumping back into place. Then the dents become smooth as the car backs its way up the cliff. As we celebrate the passage of time with God’s gift of a brand new year, let us stop to consider what time really is. And let us praise God once again that the Bible is amazingly true and accurate!
From my description above, you can know the film is now being run backwards because such behavior is never observed in real life. We do not see an explosion produce a car, and we never see a shattered car flying up the face of a cliff. Yet, this is what evolutionists say happened somehow – explosions and time somehow made things much more complicated than a car!
Indeed, as physicists point out, “time” is actually defined as the “direction” in which entropy or disorder/decay increases. Modern scientists observe this law of incessant decay as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, and it proves itself over and over as thoroughly as the law of gravity. And all by itself, this law sends evolution over the cliff.
This truth is also in the Bible. When Adam rebelled against his Creator by eating the forbidden fruit, God told Adam he would decay. “For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:19b). It was part of the curse on creation because of sin. The Bible restates this principle of the creation’s decay with time in many texts of scripture. For example, Romans 8:21 says that the present creation is in “bondage of corruption (decay to a disordered state)”. Time is heavily correlated to the creation itself – to the laws that govern matter.
The Bible also describes God as Creator of time itself, along with matter and space. This is inherent in the language of the Bible’s first verse: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” And Hebrews 1:2 says the following: “(God) hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made [the ages].” The Greek word “aionas” is translated either “worlds” or “ages”; yet, it is the word from which we get our English word “eons”. It means a period of time.
So the Bible lumps the creation together with time in prophetic foreknowledge of what only came to be understood by scientific men in the 20th century as the space-time continuum – or more completely, the space-matter-time continuum. Consider Psalm 90:2, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” As theologians would say, our Creator exists in “the eternal now”. Though He transcends time, He can participate in it. This is why the Bible says “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years” and can talk in terms of “the fullness of time” in relation to the fulfillment of prophecy.
So science once again can be said to be catching up with what was already in the Bible. Scientists came to realize that time cannot be separated from the three dimensions of space. Space-time is a mathematical model that joins space and time into a single idea, calling it a continuum – in four dimensions (the three dimensions of space plus the one dimension of time). In the time-space continuum, as we move through space, time is “dilated” like the pupil of your eye (time-dilation). The faster we travel through space, the slower we travel through time (i.e., the more time slows down). This is referred to as time-warping.
Difficult as this is to grasp, it has been shown to be true through experiment. For example, in 1971, four incredibly accurate cesium atomic clocks (which measure the vibrational frequency of the oscillating atoms of the element cesium) were synchronized and flown on commercial planes that circled the earth twice. Then the clocks were compared to the reference clock at the U.S. naval observatory. Sure enough, the moving clocks differed from the reference clock by exactly the amount predicted mathematically for the time-space continuum principle.
Extending the mathematics, if we traveled at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second), time would stand still. Furthermore, according to the principle, if we were able to travel faster than the speed of light, we could actually go backwards in time! This is the basis for science fiction stories, even though the speed presently of manned spacecraft is only 6.9 miles per second. But can you imagine in our glorified bodies being able to travel about and arrive at far flung places instantly if we wanted to?!
Amazingly, at the end of the Bible in John’s visions, these truths are made clear:
- The first heaven and earth will have passed away.
- There would be a new heaven and a new earth.
- There would no longer be any death.
- There would no longer be any curse.
This outcome must be the case if we are to have eternal life. In eternity, we shall be immortal, which means death and its process are removed. And our experience of time with its current constrictions will, therefore, change. In fact, in Revelation 10:6b, the Greek word chronos (chronological time) is said to disappear: “…there should be time no longer.” This may very well be more than just an end to the delay of history, delay of the present created age (aion), because it is an end of the present created age as we know it!

‘Blessings can become curses. For example, a painkiller may be used to cover up an injury that needs immediate treatment. Pain is unpleasant. However, when pain tells us to move our hand from the hot stovetop, it helps us prevent worse injury.
When God created the universe and placed humans on this Earth, there was no disease, no pain and no death. The Bible tells us that God also knew that our freedom to withdraw our love from Him would also result in the consequences of withdrawing that love – that is, disease, pain and death. In His wisdom, God filled the creation with chemical factories that could provide temporary help for pain and disease.
Foxglove, or digitalis, offers a treatment for heart failure. Quinine, from a South American tree, is used to treat malaria. Steroids come from a Mexican yam. A treatment for gout is made from the autumn crocus. A fungus that grows on the rye plant and caffeine from coffee beans are used to treat migraine headaches. White willow bark, which contains a form of aspirin, has been used for thousands of years as a natural treatment for pain and fever.
Pain, disease and death call our attention to our much more serious spiritual condition. If we did not have to face death in this life, we would be condemned to spend eternity in an imperfect world. We can thank God that He has provided the remedy for our sin in the forgiveness of sins through His Son, Jesus Christ. What is it with politicians? Abortion, euthanasia, Marxism, climate change etc. In my own opinion there should be no debate that abortion is the murdering of another human being. Yet, our politicians here in Australia, when it comes to murder of the unborn all they can do is pass laws that those who are pro-life may not stand within 150 metres of the murder clinic. These political hypocrites are more concerned with Koalas than babies! ‘January 22, 1973 marks the disastrous turn in American law that granted women the so‑called right to kill their unborn babies. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that the unborn child is a human being who is known and loved by God as He knits it together in the womb. Science knows that even when it is a single fertilized cell, the unborn child is uniquely human. Now science is learning the truth of what the Bible has told us all along about the individual human nature of the unborn child.
Research is confirming that even before birth children in the womb are learning about the world. The child in the womb does much more than simply hear sounds, including its mother’s voice. The child also becomes familiar with odors in the outside environment.
To test what newborns were thinking, scientists very cleverly hooked up a pacifier to a tape recorder. They then rewarded a particular sucking pattern with various sounds such as mother’s voice. They found that the infants would concentrate on a pattern that would produce their mother’s voice. In another test, women’s voices, and even their father’s voices, were not favored over mother’s heartbeat – a familiar sound in the womb.
Even science is beginning to agree that life in the womb is nothing less than a normal stage of human existence. Like every other stage of life, life in the womb includes learning new things and developing relationships. This China virus is being used by Australian state governments to frighten people and bankrupt small businesses. Cases of China virus does not mean deaths! One never hears a word against the country that sent this virus to the rest of the world. Instead the political ‘leaders’ have been obedient to their Chinese masters. Today, ‘Speculation is growing in South Australia that Premier Steven Marshall is about to announce tighter restrictions as the state grapples with a potential second wave coronavirus outbreak.
Mr Marshall postponed a morning briefing on Wednesday, after earlier confirming to local radio that more cases had been added to the Parafield cluster that is spreading across Adelaide’s north.
He is now due to speak at 12.30pm (local time).
South Australia introduced a host of lockdown measures as the cluster emerged on Monday.
