‘The New Scientist for April 2nd announced the design and making of a bacterium with the smallest ever set of genes. Some will infer that life-in-a-test-tube is possible.
Life forms are too complex for life to arise spontaneously, with interdependent systems just springing forth unaided. How simple a living thing is it possible to get? Certainly it would need to be a single-celled creature such as a small bacterium.
In April 2016, The Venter Institute published details of the smallest genome that would support life under ideal conditions. First Craig Venter’s team designed a basic set of genes on a computer. Then they took a small bacterium and painstakingly removed single genes, one at a time. Where the bacterium survived such a removal, that gene could safely be discarded from the genome. They finished up with a tiny genome of only 473 genes. They removed its own genome from a bacterium and replaced it by this minimal genome, nurturing it in a dish of easy-to-process glucose for energy. The synthetic genome then used the machinery of the cell to grow and divide like any living cell.
This remarkable piece of genetic research is very different from making life from scratch, and only serves to highlight the problems involved. The team used naturally occurring genes – they are far and away too complex to design and form from scratch. Moreover, these leading geneticists had no idea what was the function of a third of the genes found to be indispensable to life. The rest of the genes coded for proteins vital to life and checked the fidelity of genome duplication when the cell divides, or made the machinery for turning nutrients into energy. The nutrient rich environment enabled the minimal genome to survive without other genes needed in a harsher situation. The rest of the cell was a ready-made bacterium with all its natural components.
Far from shedding light on how life arose without a designer, the exercise highlighted our lack of knowledge of many cell functions. ‘DINOSAUR ON WRONG CONTINENT according to reports in Bath University 5 November 2020, Science Alert 6 November 2020, SciTech Daily 7 November 2020, and Cretaceous Research, 2 November 2020; doi:10.1016/j.cretres.2020.104678. An international team of scientists have found fossil jaws and the teeth of a hadrosaur (a “duckbill dinosaur”) in a phosphate mine in Morocco. Using the fossils they estimate the dinosaur was about 3 metres (10ft) long – fairly small for a hadrosaur, but still a large animal. The rock layer it was found in is dated as 66 million years, putting it in the Cretaceous period. The scientists were surprised to find it in Morocco as hadrosaurs are believed to have evolved in North America, a long way from Africa. According to current continental drift theory Africa was separated from other continents by deep oceans hundreds of kilometres wide during the Cretaceous, which would have made it almost impossible for hadrosaurs to migrate to Africa. Nicholas Longrich, of the Milner Centre for Evolution at the University of Bath UK, who led the study said “It was completely out of place, like finding a kangaroo in Scotland. Africa was completely isolated by water – so how did they get there?” According to Longrich “It was impossible to walk to Africa,” so the research team suggested it must have crossed the water by swimming, floating or rafting on debris. Present day ocean crossings by animals such as iguanas and tortoises by rafting are rare, but have been documented. According to the Bath University Press Release, “Duckbills were probably powerful swimmers – they had large tails and powerful legs, and are often found in river deposits and marine rocks, so they may have simply swum the distance”. Nour-Eddine Jalil, from the Natural History Museum of Sorbonne University (France) commented: “The succession of improbable events (crossing an ocean by a dinosaur, fossilization of a terrestrial animal in a marine environment) highlights the rarity of our find and therefore its importance”. BUT this finding is not a problem if you believe the history of the world as set out by the Creator and Judge who created dinosaurs and then judged the world with the world-wide Flood (see Genesis 1-9). When God created the world there was one ocean and one land mass, so dinosaurs could have roamed anywhere in the time between their creation and Noah’s Flood. During that flood all air breathing, land dwelling animals outside the Ark were wiped out. Many dinosaurs were swept up by flood waters (both fresh and saltwater), along with masses of sediment, then dumped and buried. Added to the evidence they were drowned, that explains the finding of dinosaurs in “river deposits and marine rocks”. They did not live in rivers or the sea – they died in flood waters. Ipso facto, such fossils found on different continents are not the evidence of evolution – they are the remains of world-wide destruction.’

‘Food science startups aren’t your typical magnet for celebrity investors. But today, Apeel Sciences, which creates a natural coating for the exterior of fruits and vegetables such as avocados, asparagus, and citrus to extend their shelf life and prevent food waste, is announcing a $250 million funding round in which Katy Perry and Oprah Winfrey are participating.
Apeel CEO James Rogers says that the opportunity to have Perry and Winfrey invest came via their inbound interest. “I never tracked back exactly know how they first heard about what we’re doing,” he admits, via a Zoom call from his living room, where a “35 and quarantined” banner celebrating his recent birthday hung in the background. “We’ve been very focused on the technology itself, but these are folks who want to join in our mission to help build a more participatory food system that’s based on nature. Although we were going about it in different ways, the end goal was the same.”
Perry, who has been a longtime champion of addressing and mitigating the effects of climate change and is also an investor in Impossible Foods (maker of the Impossible Burger), says she got involved after getting a tip from Chris Lyons, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz (the firm helped lead Apeel’s $33 million fundraising back in December 2016). “I met James, and I went to Apeel and toured the offices and the labs and saw the science in real time and was just so blown away I thought it was witchcraft—in the best of ways,” Perry says in a phone call. “This is one of the definitions of sustainability. [Apeel] has so many prongs to it. It makes economies. It gives farmers a chance. It gives us more options as a consumer. It takes produce shipping off of planes and back onto shipping containers, so it lowers our CO2 emissions.”
Winfrey’s environmental advocacy dates back to at least the 1990s, and her most prominent sustainable food investment to date has been True Food Kitchen, the healthy, seasonal restaurant chain. Her interest in Apeel, which is available at such grocers as Costco and Kroger, connects to her interest in both a healthier food system and planet. “I hate to see food wasted, when there are so many people in the world who are going without,” said Winfrey in a statement. “Apeel can extend the life of fresh produce, which is critical to our food supply and our planet, too.”
Approximately 11% of the greenhouse gas emissions created by the food system could be eliminated by the eradication of food waste, according to the World Wildlife Federation. ‘Following the media’s projection of his victory in the 2020 presidential election, former Vice President Joe Biden has made “sweeping promises” to LGBT activists, according to The Associated Press.
Biden, a Democrat, plans to “carry out virtually every proposal” that LGBT activists have pushed for in recent years, the AP said. Biden’s agenda includes allowing individuals who identify as transgender to enlist in the military, as well as allow trans-identified servicemen to enter women’s-only areas (and vice versa), and cover trans-surgeries and cross-sex hormones for members of the military. He also plans to require all government contractors to have anti-LGBT discrimination policies, and will create LGBT rights positions at the State Department, National Security Agency, and other federal agencies.

This statement recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years and were the first explorers, navigators, engineers, farmers, botanists, scientists, diplomats, astronomers and artists.

Note the highlighted eight words above. The first is 65,00 years. That is an evolutionary thesis but not a factual known number. That number of 65,000 is based on assumption and guess work! The third is spiritual connection. Now, that is a drawback to paganism and animism. A state board certified Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks as the representative-elect of Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District over Rita Hart, to replace a retiring Democrat who supports abortion.
All 24 counties conducted a recount of results in Iowa’s Second Congressional District and the official numbers following the recount show Mariannette Miller-Meeks winning over Rita Hart by six votes, 196,964-196,958. It’s the closest race in the country, and a legal challenge to the results is likely.
The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated the victory and informed LifeNews.com that Miller-Meeks is the 18th new pro-life woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives this year, joining 11 returning incumbents.

‘In December 2019, the journal Expert Review of Proteomics published a paper I authored with Stephen Taylor titled “Proteomes of the past: the pursuit of proteins in paleontology.”1 The article features a table that lists 85 technical reports of still-existing biomaterial—mostly proteins—discovered inside fossils.
Can proteins last millions of years? Not according to decay rate measurements. Five incriminating trends emerged from these 85 secular reports. Our review sharpens the tension between how short a time biochemicals last and the supposed age of the fossils that contain them. We wrote:
Collagen decay rate experimental results build a temporal expectation that restricts bone collagen to archeological time frames, yet many reports of collagen and other proteins in older-than-archeological samples have sprinkled the paleontological literature for decades. Tension between the expectation of lability [susceptibility to chemical breakdown] and observations of longevity has fueled steady debate over the veracity of original biochemistry remnants in fossils.1

The 85 reports included descriptions of original skin, connective tissues, flexible and branching blood vessels, bone cells, and probable blood cells. Original biochemistry includes tattered but still-detectable osteocalcin, hemoglobin, elastin, laminin, ovalbumin, PHEX, histone, keratin, chitin, possible DNA, collagen, and collagen sequence—all inside fossil bones.
The first trend we found noted biomaterials from all kinds of different fossilized animals, not just dinosaurs.2 Thus, researchers need not restrict their searches for fossil biomaterials to any specific plant or animal type.
The second trend from all of these reports, which span over a half century of exploration, found no better preservation in one ancient environment over another. Whether living in air, oceans, lakes, swamps, or forests before they were fossilized, fossils could still contain biomaterials.3
Third, a bar graph of the number of relevant publications per year showed an increased interest in this field within the last two decades. Additionally, Figure 5 from our paper plots discoveries onto a world map to show that biomaterials in fossils occur virtually worldwide. We predict that future investigations could discover original biomaterials wherever fossils are found.
The fifth and final trend presents the biggest obstacle for those who insist that rock layers represent vast eons. We found reports of original biomaterials from seven of the 10 standard geologic systems plus one report each from the Precambrian and Ediacaran layers—the bottommost sediments on Earth. As one of our anonymous peer reviewers protested in response to these findings, having biomaterials last over 70 million years—let alone 500 million—is simply fantasy.
Proteins decay relentlessly and relatively fast. Yet protein discoveries keep piling up. Thus, “it is likely that contention will persist.”1 Our secular colleagues now have a sharper look at the vast depth and wide spread of young-looking biomaterials from fossils.
