‘Black History Month is an effort by variously motivated black leaders to promote pride and self-respect in current Blacks. Often, truth and fiction are comingled into a confusing jumble of misinformation. As a white American interested in truth, I will add some balance to the narrative.
There were comparatively few slaves in New England (usually one or two slaves per family, if any), but New York had many slaves. Slavery was not very beneficial in New York because the slaves had to be fed and cared for all year, yet the growing season was short.
New Yorkers were very afraid of black slaves and had a constant fear of a slave uprising when Whites would be slaughtered in their sleep. There were few massive uprisings, but many small plots, fights, and flights during which a master or overseer was slain. So, in the early l700s, slaves were beaten if three or more congregated in one place unless they were working. That would keep down conspiracies, but if a slave killed a white person, he was tortured and executed.
There was a slave uprising in New York City (population of about 8,000 citizens and 1,000 slaves) in 1712 in which nine Whites were killed, and the authorities hanged 13 slaves, and burned four alive (one over a slow fire). One slave was broken on the wheel, and one was left to starve to death in chains. So much for the sanctified, self-justification of the northern hypocrite.
Now, to answer the sanctified, self-justification of the southern hypocrite. The southern planter sat on his porch, chewing tobacco, and drinking a cool glass of rum, and said, “Well, the southern slave is much better off than he was living in miserable squalor, sin, and superstition in darkest Africa.”No doubt, his living conditions were better, and his eating was more on schedule in slavery, but I remind you that Africa was home, and he had been forced from his home. In Africa, he was with his family, in lifetime surroundings, among friends, speaking his own language, and around his own culture. In American slavery, he was not his own man. Often, he was separated from his wife and children. He was the property of others. Even if he lived in a condominium on Virginia Beach, it was still wrong for him to be enslaved.
It is also true that slavery was wrong even when the slave owner was kind, thoughtful, and benevolent. All slave owners were not haters and sadistic tyrants. Most of them were average businessmen who needed workers. It was not a good business practice to mistreat a worker. Dead slaves don’t work! Some slave owners were thoughtful and kind, which did not justify slavery.
Some slave owners saw the wisdom in taking care of their slaves, even encouraging marriage to the extent of giving them a house, a plot of ground, and household goods. A slave with a family, home, garden, and some farm animals would be less inclined to rebellion. Slaves were not worked from daybreak to sundown. The January 1979 issue of Natural Historyreported,“Slaves spent their hours away from the field doing household chores, making handicrafts, hunting, and fishing, cultivating their own food, and entertaining themselves with dancing.” Archeological research at slave cabins in Georgia and Florida reveals that some slaves even had firearms!
Black leftists would have us believe that all slaves were worked to death and were practically starved to death. However, that only happened when the owner was a sadist or an idiot! Two liberal (very liberal) professors tell us in their book, Time On The Cross: The Economics Of American Negro Slavery, that some planters instituted a profit-sharing for their slaves. They also reveal “the average pecuniary income actually received by a prime field hand was roughly fifteen percent greater than the income he would have received for his labor as a free agricultural worker.” Wonder why public school books and race-baiters on television never mention that.
On some plantations, the best workers were given tobacco, whiskey, cash, holidays, and trips to town on the weekend. Rather substantial year-end bonuses were sometimes awarded.
We are told that the slaves were docile and contented, but that is not true, especially in earlier years. There was a natural tendency for second-generation slaves to be less belligerent and more contented, but that was not true of the first-generation slaves. The facts debunk the “contented” theory.
When the slaves arrived at the ports, the slaves were examined and branded with the mark of the new owner and thenmarched to the beach. Those Blacks brought from the interior were terrified of the pounding surf, the swaying slave ship, and the white traders. Some of the Blacks thought the white men were cannibals and would devour them on the beach. It was not uncommon for the captives to claw at the sand and attempt suicide rather than be crammed into the waiting ships. That doesn’t sound as if they meekly accepted slavery.
Suicide was prevalent, especially upon leaving the African Coast since they had no idea what was happening to them.
The Power to Die reveals that some slaves refused to eat or leaped into the sea, prompting some captains to install a net to make it more difficult to accomplish their desires. Many slaves strangled themselves, tore open their throats, and hanged themselves. In America, they jumped into rivers or out of windows or even ran into burning buildings.
One sea captain wrote: “The negroes [sic] are so wilful [sic] and loth [sic] to leave their country, that they have often leaped out of the canoes, boat and ship, into the sea, and kept under water till they were drowned, to avoid being taken up and saved by our boats….” There are numerous incidents of slaves jumping into the sea, cutting their throats, self-strangling, and self-starvation.
Upon arrival in their new land, those incidents drastically decreased; however, they did not give up the thought of freedom.
There were many slave rebellions, although not massive, that resulted in many executions of the leaders. Any slave who reported a rebellion was rewarded with his freedom, so most “uprisings” did not result in freedom for many slaves. It is natural that the more vicious the owner, the greater would be the desire for freedom of his slaves; however, not all slave owners were cruel and sadistic men.
Nat Turner was a slave in Southampton County, Virginia, and always felt he was destined to do great works that he thought were established by seeing spirits fighting in the night sky. He often heard voices which he often passed to his fellow slaves. After a solar eclipse, he was convinced it was an indication for him to lead his fellow slaves in a rebellion against their masters. One evening in 1831 he led a group of 75 slaves to attack and kill their masters as they slept. No child was spared or gender as they killed with guns, swords, clubs, and farm equipment. Some adults and children were beheaded. About 51 Whites plus ten or so others were killed in two days until the slaves were found and tried. Turner and 16 of his group were then executed in Jerusalem, Virginia.
Some famous Americans who profess sanity even call Turner “legendary” (Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates) and spoke of his “heroism and sacrifices.” Say what?
Movie producer Nate Parker described Turner as “a measured, self-determined man of faith, whose courage and sacrifice left him a martyr.” Nat wasn’t martyred; he was executed for the murder of innocent men, women, and children, even babies.
Molefi Kete Asante, a scholar at Temple University calls Turner a “reflective and mature thinker” who “believed in liberty,” “demonstrated both gravitas and charisma” and “has earned his place in the panoply of revolutionary icons.”
All three of the above promoters of Nat Turner have two things in common: they are all black and have major problems in their differentiation between right and wrong. They are missing a moral compass.
Whatever the location and how kind the slave owners were, chattel slavery is always wrong. Many slave owners cared for their slaves and were interested in improving their living and working conditions. Of course, those owners were still wrong. Those owners would not have wanted to be slaves, so it was wrong for them to enslave others. Jesus taught that truth when He said in Matthew 7:12, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them….”That verse, if obeyed, would have wiped out slavery and all other injustices to men.
Slavery cannot be justified; however, it is easy for us to criticize the early Americans from our present advantage of enlightenment and abundance. What would you have done if you had lived in Jamestown in the 1600s with a farm to be worked, no white laborers to hire, and starvation facing you and your family? It is never right to do wrong, but it is easy for us to sit in judgment from a comfortable distance of more than 350 years.

‘The conventional understanding has always been that North America was populated by people who crossed from Asia to Alaska via the Bering Strait and then migrated down the West Coast. Eventually, some of them crossed as far as the eastern coasts of North and South America. Known as the Clovis culture, their descendants produced all the North and South American Indian tribes and nations. The Clovis sites that have been excavated so far have produced distinctive spear points that have become known as Clovis points.
That understanding has now been challenged by finds in Virginia. Signs of human habitation have been found at Cactus Hill, which is 45 miles south of Richmond. Researchers have dated the site to be fifty percent older than any known Clovis excavation. Stone points and blades have been found at Cactus Hill which show wear marks typical of hide scraping and butchering. The points and blades are unlike any known Clovis points. However, they do resemble western European blades and points from the same period. These facts have led some researchers to conclude that the site is evidence that ancient Europeans crossed the Atlantic Ocean to begin a settlement in North America. This was long, long before the time of the Vikings or Columbus.

‘Before turning against the U.S. military to command the Confederate army, Robert E. Lee served as the superintendent of West Point, the hallowed military academy that produced patriots like Ulysses S. Grant, Douglas MacArthur and Dwight Eisenhower.
But in the coming days, the storied academy will take down a portrait of Lee dressed in his Confederate uniform from its library, where it has been hanging since the 1950s and place it in storage. It will also remove the stone bust of the Civil War’s top southern general at Reconciliation Plaza. And Lee’s quote about honor will be stripped from the academy’s Honor Plaza.

Genesis 8:22
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
‘The world’s most infamous hockey stick was probably the graph produced for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 1998. The purpose of the graph was to show how global temperatures had changed over time and what had caused these changes. Over the last millennium, the graph showed a steady but gentle increase in temperature until about 1900 when the graph showed a sharp increase. It is this graph which has been influential in the public perception of Anthropogenic Global Warming – the idea that the Earth is getting warmer and that this is the fault of human industrial activity.
It would certainly appear to be the case that the world has warmed up slightly since 1900. This should not really be a surprise. The mean temperature of the Earth has clearly fluctuated over time. For example, there is a phenomenon known as the Medieval Warm Period. This was a period in the Middle Ages when there seemed to be greater temperatures than today. Areas of Northern England, such as the environs of York, were able to support vineyards which they are not easily able to do today. This Medieval Warm Period should show up on the graph as a dome; yet, the graph shows a straight line over the last millennium, up to 1990. If the graph is so inaccurate for the period 1200 through 1600, how can it be trusted for the 20th Century? Indeed, many leading scientists have criticized all parts of the graph, suggesting that the data does not support this alarmist graph.

‘History, simply put, is what has happened. But “what has happened” seems more and more to be misrepresented.
For years, creationists have faced the truth that teachers of history have long ignored and ridiculed what the Bible plainly says “happened”. Modern man has normalized a lie. And much of the church has compromised, discounting the clear meaning of the Bible and the history it reports.
Like the indoctrination of communism and the increasing disinformation we see today, the history of the earth and its people has everywhere been highly distorted to advance a narrative which excludes the God of the Bible. Yet, the Lord knows the truth – past, present, and future! After all, it’s His-story! And what the Bible says about history is true – including the fact that sinful man has colluded with our spiritual adversary – “the father of lies” – to promote deception of all kinds.
The depravity-driven narrative goes something like this: Primordial elements supposedly cooled, coalesced and evolved against all odds into simple organisms … which evolved against all odds into complex animals and into apes … which evolved into men who, perhaps with the help of aliens from outer space, evolved the “idea” of God. And so, enlightened humanist mankind can once again, as at the Tower of Babel, understand he doesn’t need God but can in his hubris replace Him!
Indeed, the “God is Dead” movement of the 1960s proclaimed that the “need” for God had run its course. (Laughable, upside down and foolish when you think about it!) And so the collective accomplishment of a scientific and wealthy mankind today – with its globalist, elitist bent – sees the potential for another Great Humanist Utopian Reset. What this really is, though, is another pride-appealing offer of “enlightenment” from that old serpent.
Creationists also know that much of the information confirming biblical history is quite plain for all to see (Romans 1:19-20). This is in spite of what the Bible calls all the “cunningly devised fables”, all the “willful ignorance” of men (censorship), all the “science falsely so-called”, all the becoming “fools” while “professing to be wise”, and all the changing of “the truth of God into a lie” (2 Peter 1:16, 2 Peter 3:7, 1 Timothy 6:20, Romans 1:22,25).
For example, historians, missionaries, and creationists have studied many of the accounts of different people-groups alongside the famous Table of Nations from Genesis 10. Though names and details are distorted according to different languages and pagan corruptions, the preservation of original biblical terminology and historical events from all over the world is truly astounding! Various people groups confirm such biblical details as the creation of mankind, a great worldwide flood, and dispersion of peoples to far-flung corners of the world after a sudden and tremendous multiplicity of languages. Such evidence testifies to the incredible historical accuracy of Genesis!
Consider, for example, the Hmong and Ka-rén – primitive and frequently animist hill tribes in the mountainous regions of Southeast Asia. The Hmong kept an oral tradition of reciting long poems in song at weddings, funerals and other occasions with meticulous recording of their history as descended not from Ham (Lo-Han) like the Han Chinese who persecuted them and drove them out of southern China, but from Japheth (Jah-phu). They also preserved in their poems the names of many other patriarchs from Genesis, including Noah (Nuah), Shem (Lo-Shen), Lamech (Lama), Cush (Cusah), Gomer (Go-men) and others.
As in Genesis, the Hmong poems mention that God created man from dirt and that He created a woman from the man He had created. They speak of a Great Flood with torrential rains that lasted exactly 40 days as Genesis tells us. And the poems speak of the fact that in the beginning, mankind all spoke one language and that they all worked together to build a big city with a very high tower. They say that God became angered at the offensive collective arrogance and made it so they could not understand each other’s language, causing them to abandon the project and disperse throughout the earth.
Let me hasten to add that the use of long poems and songs to relay history makes it virtually impossible to corrupt the re-tellings. Try corrupting the meaning to advance a different narrative in Tennyson’s historically accurate poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. It is impossible because the poetry and rhythm have to be correct, essentially forcing a retention of the narrative.
Another hill tribe – the Ka-rén – is also known to have poems that relate an astounding connection with the Old Testament understanding of biblical history and of Yahweh (Y’wa). However, the poems do not mention Abraham or Moses. Therefore, they cannot owe their heritage to being a lost tribe of Israel or having other foundational contact with Jews. Neither can they be said to have had contact with Christian missionaries before Adoniram Judson in the early 19th century. That’s because they have no poem speaking of Jesus the Redeemer. In fact, what they did have at the time of Judson’s contact was an ancient prophetic tradition of a white man carrying a golden book who would one day arrive to bring salvation!
Indeed, one of Judson’s first few converts to Christianity in Burma was a Ka-rén thief and murderer, Ko Tha Byu. He became an evangelist to his people, connecting the dots for his listeners to their own people’s history and prophecy. Through Byu, many thousands became Christians. And conversions spilled over to other hill tribes as well, with continued missionary activity through the 19th and 20th centuries. Hill tribes such as the Lahu, the Wa, the Akha, the Lisu, the KaChin and others had heard of the white-man-golden-book-salvation prophecy and had their own people group history helping to steer them to redemption with our Holy Creator.
In a time of accelerating revisionist history, we do well to remember and to encourage others to understand that we all need to go to the Bible to accurately assess “what happened”. Communism has always sought to rewrite history to fit their agenda. Now, ‘Elijah Schaffer, National Reporter at The Blaze, who is currently facing scrutiny from Left-wing media outlets for entering the Capitol Jan. 6 to report on the protest, says big tech is trying to “rewrite history” in the aftermath of the riot, creating an unstable society that will likely lead to more civil unrest.
“I really am afraid for our country and for these tech companies who are creating a society that is meant to implode, and I would say I am starting to believe that this is by design…This is a political opportunity to hold power,” said Schaffer on The Foreign Desk with Lisa Daftari podcast Tuesday.
Schaffer does not believe big tech banned President Donald Trump because they believe he was responsible for the riots but believes censorship is being used as “retribution for big tech companies in the ruling class, now as we know them, to completely crush political opposition going forward and to rewrite history.”
While Schaffer does not condone the actions taken at the Capitol, he expressed frustration at the hypocrisy of the Democrat party for ostracizing Trump-supporters for years, telling them “they were less valuable, sub-human, their votes didn’t matter, they were racist, sexist.”
Schaffer believes Democrat lawmakers set the precedent for the Capitol breach through failed policies and double standards implemented in the midst of Black Lives Matter riots throughout the country.
“The failed policies are what led to this. When you don’t punish rioters for 10 months, and you let them off the hook and you create a national sentiment that people can break into public buildings, can occupy them, can riot, and be let go, even if they’re arrested the district attorneys will let them go, you are enabling people who might have previously never thought of doing these things to feel like they’re ok to do them,” said Schaffer.
“When you dehumanize and ostracize people until they feel like they have no power, they often use violence as a last resort,” which Schaffer points out is the exact reasoning used to understand why many BLM protests turned violent.
Schaffer has been regularly covering civil unrest and riots for 10 months, sometimes covering three riots in one week but is receiving major backlash from the Left for entering the Capitol to cover the riot, despite law enforcement allowing him entrance with his press pass.
“A lot of publications have smeared me with being a racist or being an extremist, because I’ve done the job they were supposed to do,” said Schaffer.
“They are trying to get me imprisoned for 10 years as many of these activists have stated online…They will not rest until I am locked up for a decade, and that shows you what kind of political fight we’re up against that just recording from the inside creates an opportunity for your opposition.
