‘Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum is a key cultural institution in St. Louis, offering visitors a beautiful atmosphere for exploring history, art, architecture, and nature. We have a 3.7-mile newly painted white line to follow while in your car, on your bike, or on foot for your own self-guided tour. Stop 24 on the white line tour belongs to Reverend John Berry Meachum, founder and pastor of First African Baptist Church in St. Louis, the oldest continuously operating black church in Missouri. John and his wife Mary established a school for free and enslaved Black students in the basement of their church. Disguised as a Sunday school, the school became known as the “Candle Tallow School.” In 1847, the state of Missouri banned education for all Black people–free or enslaved–and the police forced the Meachums to shut down their school. John and Mary then moved their classes to a steamboat in the middle of the Mississippi River, which was beyond the reach of Missouri law. They provided the school with a library, desks, and chairs, and called it the “Freedom School.”
The Meachum’s used proceeds from John’s carpentry and barrel-making business to purchase freedom for twenty enslaved individuals. Their home on Fourth Street in St. Louis was a safe house on the Underground Railroad. John and Mary also helped slaves escape to Illinois, where slavery was outlawed. Their work involved considerable risk due to the passage of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, a law that authorized the hunting and capture of escaped slaves and required that they be returned to their masters.’

‘Before turning against the U.S. military to command the Confederate army, Robert E. Lee served as the superintendent of West Point, the hallowed military academy that produced patriots like Ulysses S. Grant, Douglas MacArthur and Dwight Eisenhower.
But in the coming days, the storied academy will take down a portrait of Lee dressed in his Confederate uniform from its library, where it has been hanging since the 1950s and place it in storage. It will also remove the stone bust of the Civil War’s top southern general at Reconciliation Plaza. And Lee’s quote about honor will be stripped from the academy’s Honor Plaza.

The China Virus was the beginning of the end for many if not most of those freedoms we in the West have been accustom to. If Biden and that other person win the WH watch your free speech (especially conservative speech) go out the window and become hate speech if it doesn’t fit the government’s speech criteria just like in China!
‘A 37-year-old journalist may face five years in prison in China for spreading ‘misinformation’ about the government’s response to the virus, The Guardian has reported.
Zhang Zhan, was arrested over six months ago for “picking quarrels and stirring up trouble” and is currently detained in Shanghai.
Zhan is being detained in China along with numerous other journalists, all in government custody for reporting on the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan.
China is indicting Zhan on several counts, including sending “false information through text, video and other media such as WeChat, Twitter and Youtube,” and “[accepting] interviews from overseas media Free Radio Asia and Epoch Times,” according to the official prosecution papers.
Zhan is also accused of “maliciously [speculating] on Wuhan’s Covid-19 epidemic,” likely referring to her vocalized skepticism of China’s official Covid-19 numbers.
Alongside these indictments, Zhan exposed various detentions of other journalists who were attempting to report on the coronavirus in Wuhan, according to the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD).

Two church shooters with two different media results. The white boy is Dylann Roof, born and reared in the south. He shot and killed nine when he entered a predominately black church and began shooting.
The black man is Emanuel Kidega Samson, an immigrant from Sudan. He shot and killed one white lady in the church parking lot and then entered the predominately white church to kill more. However, his murderous intentions were stopped when one church goer, an usher, had a weapon and was able to stop Samson from any further killings.
How has the reaction been to these two incidents? Quite different is an understatement! With the shootings committed by Roof it was touted as racist and a result of the Civil War. Therefore, anything that smacked of the South’s past history had to be removed. First it was the Confederate Flag, then Confederate soldier’s graves and now statues of Confederate leaders such as Robert E. Lee.
How has the reaction been to immigrant Samson’s church shootings? Not much! There has been no mention of racism, no mention of immigrates or immigration laws, or a rethink on the 2nd amendment!
Roof’s murderous rampage was in the news for weeks and still is while the recent shooting by a black man from Sudan barely makes the news. In a few days the Sudan immigrant’s muderous intentions will be forgotten while the boy from the south will be fresh in the memory of progressives. What is the difference? Is it skin color and the place of one’s birth? Surely not!
Whatever it is, the BIG NEWS that continues to be plastered in all forms of media is a bunch of overpaid football players not standing for the National Anthem and in a close second the North Korea situation! Oh, before leaving the North Korea issue one would almost get the idea that many in the media would rather have the murdering Kim Jong-un as their President than Donald Trump!
Does this say something about the media and sadly does it also say something about society?
With all the hub bub over Confederate monuments, graves etc. it is hard to disagree with the fact that ‘For the ordinary soldiers who fought and died, devotion to the Confederate army did not
