‘Dr. Francis Collins, former NIH Director and current “science advisor” to Joe Biden, has long proclaimed himself and Dr. Anthony Fauci as “not political figures.” But newly leaked audio, obtained by The Daily Wire’s Meg Basham, tells a far different story.
The audio was taken on October 26th, 2021 at an event hosted by Christianity Today in conjunction with the Institute of Politics (a leftwing organization founded by David Axelrod). Russell Moore, a favorite among socially left-leaning “evangelicals” like David French and Beth Moore, conducted the interview portion that included Collins.
What followed was the mocking of Christians, the dismissal of individual rights, and false assertions about the legalities involved with vaccine mandates. But rest assured, none of this was political per Collins’ self-description.
“The US government does have the authority to mandate vaccinations if there is an outbreak that is threatening people, because it’s not just about you, it’s about the people you’re going to infect,” Collins claimed, even though science journals were already reporting by that point that vaccinated people were just as likely to spread the then-dominant Delta variant as those who were unvaccinated.
Collins went on to ask rhetorically, “Do [mandates] convince people who otherwise wouldn’t get them?” He answered himself, “Oh yeah, especially if it means losing your job.”
Perhaps Collins should opine less on legal issues because that turned out to be objectively false. As most are aware, the Supreme Court ended up striking down the Biden administration’s federal vaccine mandate. Collins tried to cite Jacobson vs. Massachusetts, a 1905 case that involved state-level mandates, in the interview, again showing his lack of knowledge of the topic. The lack of empathy shown to those losing their jobs over a mandate that was scientifically pointless (everyone spreads COVID) is also striking.

‘If your measuring stick is inaccurate, you could end up with too much wallpaper or too little. If your map tells you that your destination is 200 miles away when it’s really only 50 miles away, you might drive right past it. If your map of the universe is inaccurate and stars are a lot closer than you expect, you will arrive at the wrong age for the universe.
Most science textbooks solemnly teach that the universe is 10 to 20 billion years old. A distant galaxy in the Virgo cluster is one of the primary measuring sticks used by astronomers to figure out the distance of other objects in space. Ultimately these distances are used to compute the age of the universe. Recently, though, astronomers were finally able to see individual stars in this distant cluster.
Using a new, high-resolution camera, astronomers saw stars that are very much like stars in our own Milky Way galaxy. Since they know how bright these stars are, they were able to check their computations on how far away the measuring-stick galaxy is. Instead of the expected 100 million light-years, their new figures told them that the galaxy was only 50 million light-years away. This means that the universe might only be half as old as they thought.
The lesson for us in this is that the millions and billions of years many scientists talk about are mere speculation. ‘Deserts cover one-fifth of the earth’s land surfaces, but only the Americas have cacti. The southwestern U.S. has more than 2,000 varieties of cactus. What design would you put into a desert plant for it to hold onto its water? Cacti open their tiny pores (stomata) to take in carbon dioxide during the night! This is the opposite of most plants; they open their pores (stomata) during the daylight hours because this is when photosynthesis takes place and the carbon dioxide is needed at that time. If the cacti were to open their pores during the day, precious water would evaporate. Losing water is not good in the desert! Cacti are designed so that during the night, stomata open up and carbon dioxide is collected and stored. During the day, the stomata close, and the previously stored carbon dioxide is used for photosynthesis. Cacti are an extremely unique plant that open their pores only at night.
The cacti have many other ingenious designs to help them survive in the desert:
- The main body of the cacti acts as a reservoir, storing water. The cacti can actually expand their diameter. Question: Can trees swell their trunks as they gather water, and then shrink their girth as they use the water? A mature saguaro can absorb 200 gallons from one rainstorm. Cacti are like sponges, so when it does rain, they collect as much water as possible!
- The outer part of the cactus is waxy. This helps retain the moisture.
- Pointy spines or “cactus needles” stop thirsty animals from getting a free drink.
Evolution teaches that cacti evolved these features over eons of time. Yet thousands of specific programming changes would be needed to allow some sort of “pre-cactus” to survive in the desert. What if stomata were open during the day, like other plants? The cacti would most likely wither away and die. What if it did not have the unusual feature of its stem expanding to hold water? An extended dry spell would kill all the cacti. What if there were no spines? Animals would eat the cacti for their water. These are just a few of the design issues that God had to think about so that cacti could survive and thrive in a harsh desert environment. The world is a frightening place without God. This fear can be seen today in fears that modern people often confuse with science.
Several years ago stories of gloom and doom about a greenhouse heating of the earth were starting to fill the media. We at Creation Moments looked at the scientific basis for these claims. We wanted to know if the greenhouse warming of the earth was a true threat or just another fear of a godless people. We then published the conclusion that the thin and conflicting evidence for greenhouse warming most likely came from the heat island effect of growing cities around some of the temperature measuring sites.
Knowing the elegance with which God designed everything in creation, creationists suspected that God probably designed the earth with built-in thermostats that help keep it from warming up too much. When the Pacific Ocean warms more than normal, it sends increasing amounts of water vapor into the air. If heating continues, the water vapor will actually cause the heating to increase until vapor is forced higher into the atmosphere, creating icy cirrus clouds. ‘Many textbooks tell young people today that birds are modified reptiles. Suppose, they say, that millions of years ago the scales on some reptiles began to fray along the edges. In time, they say, the frayed scales turned into feathers and birds were born.
The elegance and beauty of the feather make this story hard to believe. Can sticking a feather on a lizard produce a peacock? The bird’s feather is only a small part of the complete flying system of the bird. Even with very careful planning and redesigning, a reptile doesn’t have what it takes.
A bird needs massive breast muscles for flight. In some birds, 30% of the body weight of the bird is breast muscle. By comparison, in humans breast muscles are only about 1% of body weight. A bird also needs an extremely high metabolism and blood pressure to deliver the energy those muscles need for flight. Birds have a higher metabolism than any other creature; they also have the necessary high blood pressure. Finally, as is well known, birds need light skeletons. The man-o’-war has a wingspan of seven feet. But its entire skeleton weighs only a few ounces—less than its feathers!
Even the most clever rebuilding of a reptile cannot produce a bird. In fact, birds have very little in common with reptiles.
