Markets don’t lie. The growth in demand for uranium is driven by the world’s growing demand for nuclear power.

Australia holds the world’s largest uranium reserves and, despite its shifting policy of limiting the number of mines and states that have banned them, is the world’s third-largest uranium exporter. Happy to export it, but too dim to use it ourselves.

That Australia, among the world’s largest uranium exporters, doesn’t rely on nuclear power astonishes those from the 30 countries where you’ll find nearly 450 nuclear reactors currently operating – including the French, Americans, Canadians, Japanese and Chinese. Another 15 countries are currently building 60 reactors among them. Nuclear power output accounts for over 11% of global electricity production. But not a lick of it in Australia.

In 1998, the Federal government enacted legislation that prohibits nuclear power generation in any form. The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act

Backing ideology over sound engineering was never the smartest ploy. Now the ideologues are in a flat panic as the public begins to realise that they’ve been lied to, all along.

The ‘renewables are cheap’ story doesn’t seem to cut it anymore, with Australian households and businesses set for 25-30% increases in their power bills next month. Australians have been hit with double-digit percentage increases in their power bills every year since the Green-Labor Alliance ramped up the Federal government’s Renewable Energy Target back in 2010.

Their ‘more giant batteries will fix it’ meme is struggling, too. There is no grid-scale power storage system using batteries operating anywhere in the world. Australia is no different. The reason batteries offer no solution is all down to physics and economics.

As the grand wind and solar ‘transition’ collapses around them, the zealots and rent-seekers are reduced to accusing Australia’s coal-fired power plants…

Wind turbines were meant to improve the weather, now it seems these things are making it worse. Bear in mind the weather worriers are fretting about changes of a degree or two (apparently an increase of just 1.5°C means instant disaster and pumping it up by 2°C means an irreversible catastrophe).

There is already plenty of evidence to show that wind turbines are causing local nighttime temperatures to rise by as much as 1.5°C. Which would be no surprise to grape growers who use banks of large frost fans to stir up the air at nighttime, prevent frosts from forming and protect their crops.

Now a German study suggests that its 30,000 industrial wind turbines are causing droughts of the conventional kind (as in a lack of precipitation, not a lack of wind).
