This is another testimony dramatized at the Pacific Garden Mission for the program Unshackled. May it be a blessing to you and if you are not yet a Christian please take time to consider the claims of Christ as the Son of God. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
In spite of what God has said in Genesis, ‘More than 50 religious leaders from across Australia have called on Gautam Adani, chairman and founder of the Adani Group, to abandon plans to build a new coal mine in Northern Queensland. In an open letter delivered on 18 April to representatives of the Adani Group at their Townsville office, the coalition of Christian ministers – including Anglicans Bishop Philip Huggins of the Diocese of Melbourne and Dean of Brisbane’s Cathedral Dr Peter Catt – Rabbis, Imams, Buddhists and Religious Sisters said they oppose all new coal mining in Queensland’s Galilee Basin. The faith leaders argued that the environmental impact of a new mine would be “too great”, while the economic rationale was “grasping at short-term profits from a thermal coal industry in worldwide structural decline” and could not provide the long-term jobs the region needs. Instead, they urged Mr Adani to invest his company’s wealth into renewable energies.
“We are at a crossroads,” the letter reads. “One way lies destruction; the other way, sanity. We need to turn immediately in the direction of a stable and compassionate future based on ambitious investment in renewable energy. Our love and concern for the wellbeing of people, other forms of life and our planet leaves us convinced that building this mine would be a giant leap in a very dangerous direction. We therefore call on you to abandon it and to work instead with state and federal governments to invest in good local jobs in solar and wind. You have the capacity to do enormous good.”
The letter was organised by the multi-faith environmental group Australian Religious

Response to Climate Change (ARRCC). ARRCC board member Rabbi Jonathan Keren-Black, who was in Townsville for the letter’s delivery, said Mr Adani’s choice should be clear: “Dollar for dollar, renewables provide a lot more jobs than coal. The figures are very clear. Investment in renewables could provide all sorts of jobs, from fabrication to installation, operation and maintenance jobs as well as research, education and training. Mr Adani can do so much good, and right now he’s at a crossroads.
“There is so little time left to act on climate change and so much carbon dioxide that would be emitted if mining went ahead in the Galilee Basin,” Mr Keren-Black said. “This needs to stop being treated as a political issue and be recognised for what it is – simply a moral issue.”’ http://www.anglicannews.org/news/2018/04/faith-leaders-unite-to-oppose-plans-for-new-coal-mine-in-northern-queensland.aspx
MORAL ISSUE! As thousands of babies are murdered each year here in Australia through abortion these “religious” folk protest coal!? Sadly, this “religious” crowd is more concerned with preaching the false message of Climate Change than the precious soul-saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears
One wonders why anyone would send their child off to a ‘Christian’ school like BIOLA when ‘In March of 2016, Biola hosted a conference “Love No Matter What: Politics, Sex, Race and the Way of the Cross.” Themes were LGBT rights, racial issues, capital punishment, etc. The speaker was 29-year-old, black, single Christena Cleveland, associate professor at Duke University Divinity School. She pontificated on radical causes especially pushing Biola to accept Black Lives Matter and the “Palestinians.” Remember this conference was at a major Christian University.
She is a very important person because Christianity Today said so. The magazine named her “one of 33 millennials leading the next generation of Christian faith.” God help us.’ http://donboys.cstnews.com/biola-university-has-slipped-into-the-slim-pit-of-cowardice-compromise-and-corruption
After reading the article I googled Christina Cleveland
and found an abundant amount of information. For instance, ‘…at Duke Divinity School, Christena teaches classes on race, reconciliation, and conflict, and leads a research team that is investigating self-compassion as a buffer for racial stress.’ http://www.christenacleveland.com/bio/
Those are not the courses that will help fulfill the Lord’s command in reaching a spiritually lost world with the Gospel of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ!
The next year, 2017, Dr. Cleveland spoke at All Saints Church, Pasadena, California on Sunday, May 21, 2017.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJlt1zwGZqM All Saints Church is typical of theological liberalism. Why do I say that? One reason is this. ‘Are you looking for an absolutely fun time for a great cause? Come join us on Friday, April 20th for An Evening of Drag Queen Bingo — with all proceeds going to support our Trouvères Youth Choir on their Civil Rights Choir Tour to Birmingham, Selma, New Orleans, Memphis, and Ferguson/Saint Louis in June, 2018.

Additional cards and adult beverages are available with cash.’ https://allsaints-pas.org/an-evening-of-drag-queen-bingo-fundraiser-for-trouveres-choir-tour/
Sadly, many once fundamental schools and churches have gone the way of BIOLA. They are inviting liberals, if not out and out unbelievers, to speak to their students thinking they are being relevant! This ought not to be. Paul wrote that we are to ‘…mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them’ Romans 16:17. Matthew Henry rightly commented on this verse writing ‘Whatever varies from the form of sound doctrine which we have in the scriptures opens a door to divisions and offences. If truth be once deserted, unity and peace will not last long. Now, mark those that thus cause divisions, skopein. Observe them, the method they take, the end they drive at. There is need of a piercing watchful eye to discern the danger we are in from such people; for commonly the pretences are plausible, when the projects are very pernicious. Do not look only at the divisions and offences, but run up those streams to the fountain, and mark those that cause them, and especially that in them which causes these divisions and offences, those lusts on each side whence come these wars and fightings. A danger discovered is half prevented.’
Today’s Christianity has become soft on Biblical separation and it shows by those with whom they fellowship. Now, some have not gone as far as BIOLA but they are seeking to be culturally relevant while losing their saltiness.
The Gospel has always been relevant and as Paul so aptly wrote under the moving of God’s Holy Spirit ‘…that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed’ Romans 13:11.
This is the testimony of Bernie as dramatized on Pacific Garden Mission’s Unshackled. Bernie was a sinner as we all are but turned to the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
No one desires to speak ill of the dead but this article which quotes Rick Warren is diametrically opposite of what God’s Word states in 2Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
That’s pretty clear even for this left-hander. But what does Rick Warren say about Billy Graham?
‘Secondly, he pointed out that Graham was a bridge-builder rather than a wall-builder; a unifier rather than a divider.
“In the 1950 and ’60s, Billy insisted that all his crusades be integrated. In some southern cities in America, the Graham crusades were the first public events to be racially integrated. But Billy also insisted that his crusades be religiously integrated,” Warren said.
“He put Catholics and Protestants, Calvinists and Charismatics, Fundamentalist and Evangelicals, Liberals and Conservatives, all on the platform together. He was criticized for it, but he knew that God blesses unity and harmony.”‘ https://www.christianpost.com/news/rick-warren-says-billy-graham-inspired-him-witness-to-lgbt-muslims-atheists-despite-criticism-219586/?utm_source=newsletter
Again, Paul wrote under the moving of God’s Spirit in 2Timothy 4:2-5 that a preacher was to 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
An all-inclusive ministry that Warren exalts is outlined in verses 3 and 4 and the result is not glorifying to God.
The simple answer to the above title is simply that these so-called ‘”clergy” DO NOT believe the Bible.
Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
The answer to America’s murder problem is a changed heart through repentance and faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ! Anyway, here is the article;
‘In the aftermath of another school campus mass murder by a deranged individual, there were a myriad of reactions as people tried to come to grips with why this continues to happen. Many of the reactions are expected — especially those speaking of the need for greater controls over the acquisition of guns. One reaction I don’t understand is why clergy are not calling for more religion instead of more gun control.
By now you know that (to their credit) the FBI stated they did not act on a tip received on the Parkland, Fla., murderer that could have potentially prevented the killing of 17 innocents – mostly children. Plainly said, they screwed up. But I applaud them for admitting their failure which rarely happens with government authorities.
There is a feeling that we must do something. Many who do not understand the first thing about guns or gun ownership think the only way to resolve this is to limit the ownership of long guns, which they like to characterize as “assault weapons.” This is despite the fact that long guns are a small percentage of guns used in murders. I have delineated all this in prior columns. (Please do not assume I am minimizing this loss of life in any way or form.)
I presume that is because it is easier to look at the tool of murder instead of the cause of the action by the individual. Some of you are sick of hearing how things were not like this when those of us of an older generation were growing up. A recent study by the University of Chicago showed that there was actually a greater percentage of households owning guns in the good ol’ days (their study started in 1972). It is thus not an issue of people owning guns; it is the people.
If you argue that guns were different then, soak in this fact; gun ownership in America went up 50% from 1993 through 2013. Homicides went down 50% during that time. Half of that time there was a so-called “assault weapon” ban and half not. A study by the government determined there was no benefit from the banning of certain long guns.
One thing we know was much more prevalent in the past was religious worship. Those who pooh-pooh religion because they have found enlightenment somewhere else will almost never admit that the lack of religious observance is a large part of the problem. The people who you would expect to make claims that religion is the answer are those who have chosen to devote their lives to bringing people to their faith and clergy, whatever faith that may be.
I have not done a complete study, but we have gotten to know these mass murderers pretty well. Almost none, if any, attend religious services regularly. In the aftermath of the Las Vegas mass murder, there was a prayer vigil at the National Cathedral. Rabbi Jack Moline stated, “It is not mental health, age, wealth, educational opportunity or employment; it is guns.” There is no mention there of the fact the Rabbi thought this might have been avoided if the killer was sitting in a synagogue every Friday night.’ https://townhall.com/columnists/brucebialosky/2018/02/25/why-do-clergy-advocate-more-gun-control-instead-of-more-religion-n2452795?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=
This is the second video from the book Wonders of Grace. This book is based on the testimonies of some of those who came to faith in the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour during the ministry of C. H. Spurgeon. Here are just three of those testimonies. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
