If you thought Communism died when the Berlin Wall came down you are wrong! Communism is well and alive around the world today! The Australian state of Victoria is a FAR FAR LEFT Leaning state government and therefore it isn’t a real surprise that ‘Four members of three competing communist groups have won election to Melbourne councils in the recent local elections.
Three of those were re-elected, with Stephen Jolly and Brigid O’Brien (both formally of the Socialist Party and the Victorian Socialists) winning seats on Yarra Council with 26.07% and 15.13% of the vote respectively. Sue Bolton a veteran Marxist of many decades standing and one of the last leaders of the faltering Socialist Alliance was also re-elected to the City of Moreland Council for a third term with only 12.1% of the vote. Whilst these percentages may seem ludicrously low, the voting systems for many inner city Melbourne councils are deliberately designed to allow candidates to win with the approval of only small slivers of the electorate.
But one successful communist candidate was a newcomer, and by that I mean a newcomer only in the realm of being a new elected councillor, because in the realm of Australian communism Jorge Jorquera is anything but new. Jorge, representing the Socialist Alternative front group “Victorian Socialists” won a seat on Maribyrnong council after two recounts and an astoundingly low 8.76% of the vote. Thus becoming the first ever communist elected to a council in Melbourne’s Western suburbs.
Jorge has an extremely long record as a Marxist activist, as the child of Marxists who fled the Pinochet government in Chile he was likely a communist from his cradle. He began his adult Marxist activism in the mid 1980s and by 1991 he was not only an activist with the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) but was the Melbourne organiser for their youth group “Resistance”.
In 1992 in his capacity as Resistance organiser Jorge was contacted by both the Australian solicitor general and the Department of Health, Housing and Community Services in relation to the distribution of 5000 copies of a sexually explicit DSP authored pamphlet “Fantastic Sex Facts” to underage schoolchildren. The main culprit involved in this targeting of underage children was Zanny Beg, a fellow Democratic Socialist party activist who would go on to found “Community Action Against Homophobia” to campaign for the lowering of the homosexual age of consent in NSW.

Jorge was particularly interested in the DSP due to that group’s interest in supporting Latin American communist dictators like Fidel Castro. In the late 80s and early 90s the DSP had gradually moved away from its roots in Trotskyist-style communism and had moved towards an ideology closer to “anything that still vaguely resembles communism is good”. Naturally the DSP’s Trotskyist rivals in the International Socialists (a 1995 split of which eventually became the Socialist Alternative) made much mockery of this evolution, referring to the DSP as “Castroite” for much of the nineties.
While this might have been embarrassing for the older activists in the DSP who had been bleating about Trotsky since the late 60s, it suited Jorge down to the ground. Jorge’s passion at that time (and main activity over the course of the last thirty years) has been an unwavering, steadfast and fanatical fanboy level of support for every communist or Marxist influenced regime in Latin America. When Fidel Castro finally kicked the bucket and went to join his fellow communists in hell, Jorge described the dead dictator as “genuinely heroic” and “inspiring to millions”.
But Jorge has saved perhaps his greatest love for the regime of former Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. Jorge even helped set up communist front groups with names like “Committees in Solidarity with Latin America and the Caribbean” and the “Australia-Venezuela Solidarity Network” to host events here in Australia for ambassadors and other regime officials.
The DSP became the Socialist Alliance in 2001 to try and cash in on the supposed electoral discontent of the working class with capitalism. When a few years later the legions of hidden proletariat votes had failed to materialise a faction inside the Alliance began to argue that the problem was that they had become too moderate and needed to get back to more hardline “Leninist” communism. Jorge was a part of this group. When this “Leninist faction” was expelled in 2008 for being continually annoying he and others (including Kevin Rudd’s nephew) went on to found the “Revolutionary Socialist Party” (RSP). The RSP was a complete failure largely due to the fact that most of its members were such old communists that they kept dying or having to be hospitalised. Eventually in 2012 the more youthful remnants of the RSP begged to be allowed to merge with Socialist Alternative.
Jorge has long been involved in the education sector having formerly been a staff member at Victoria Uni and currently being employed as a Curriculum Advisor at Keypath Education Australia. In 2007 Jorge joined together with Jo Williams (of Victoria University and Socialist Alternative) and Tracey Ollis (of Deakin University school of Education) to form the “Popular Education Network Australia” (PENA). In their own words the aim of PENA was to bring together “fellow travellers” working within the education system to better spread the influence and ideas of Brazilian education theorist Paulo Freire among Australian educators.
Freire argued in his most important work “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” that the purpose of the teacher was not simply to impart knowledge but to also subliminally indoctrinate children in Marxist theory.
These are the people you pay through your taxes to teach your kids’ teachers. And if you’re unfortunate enough to live in Maribyrnong council one of them is now sucking parasitically at your rates.
The typical response from most on the right to hearing about another communist councillor being elected is complacency. “It’s only a council seat” they say. Well it was only one council seat when Stephen Jolly won in Yarra in 2004, now it’s half a dozen Australia wide. With just one seat Jolly was able to lead a campaign to block the billion dollar East-West link project and missed out on a Victorian upper house seat at the last state poll by the slimmest of margins. Ignoring these extremists doesn’t make them go away.

‘During the second world war, a group of English-speaking Japanese female radio broadcasters, collectively known as ‘Tokyo Rose’, spread Japanese propaganda over the airwaves in an effort to demoralise Allied troops and their families back home. Typically, broadcasts would emphasise the horrific wartime losses and misery of being a soldier. How effective the ploy was is debatable, although one of the girls, Iva Toguri D’Aquino, spent a decade in a US jail after the war for treason (before being pardoned). As a strategy, such propaganda is straight out of the Sun Tzu Art of War playbook, which includes insights such as: ‘The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting’ and ‘The greatest victory is that which requires no battle’.
China’s Foreign Ministry ‘spokesman’ Zhao Lijian is clearly a fan of both Tokyo Rose and Sun Tzu. His phony mocked-up photograph, posted online, of an Australian soldier slitting the throat of an Afghani child is as blatant, grotesque and repellent as it is opportunistic and predictable (as David Flint points out in his column this week). Zhao, apparently known as a ‘wolf warrior’, has pulled off a remarkable hat-trick that will no doubt earn him enormous kudos within the totalitarian and militaristic empire that is Xi Jinping’s Chinese communist regime. He has further crippled the morale of the most elite SAS force on the planet; further damaged the global reputation for integrity of the Australian military; and further humiliated and tarnished Australia’s international standing on human rights, thereby neatly creating a fake moral equivalence with China’s appalling record. Not bad for five minutes work on a Twitter meme that a teenage school-kid could have slapped together on his iPhone.
Note, however, our deliberate repetition of the word ‘further’. Zhao is a canny opportunist who probably honed his skills in some Western-sponsored advertising and marketing course, for his tweet has only had such an explosive and destructive impact because of the fertile environment it was planted in; the toxic groundwork having been neatly prepared over the previous fortnight by none other than the Australian government, our military leadership and our self-loathing media. No matter how ugly, factually incorrect and obscene Zhao’s doctored image may be, its potency lies in its perceived credibility, and that credibility was handed over on a plate by Prime Minister Scott Morrison and General Angus Campbell when first they announced the tabling of the ‘brutal truths’ within the Brereton Report, followed by collective punishment for anyone remotely close to the alleged atrocities and, in a final obscenity, the pre-emptive stripping (now reversed) of citations from dead soldiers.
Whatever savagery, barbarity or crimes may or may not have taken place in the remote mountains of Afghanistan’s Uruzgun province a decade ago, until a court of law has found individuals guilty of intentional wrongdoing or murder then all of our Australian soldiers, including those named in the report, are to be presumed innocent. Full stop.
Yet in a classic case of pandering to the virtue-signallers, Prime Minister Morrison, General Campbell and others were visibly tripping over each other to ‘get in front’ of this story. Anyone genuinely concerned with preserving our values as well as our security would have recognised, as countless have before them, that with national security and allegations of military crimes it is best to keep them out of the public eye and for information to be reserved for certain eyes only until the truth has been established in a court of law. All our fighting forces have been betrayed by the ham-fisted bungling of this situation at the highest levels. You reap what you sow, and the fact that our government and military leadership went out of their way to not only broadcast but seemingly verify the unproven allegations to the world has now given licence to our many foes to misuse this information at will. Look forward in coming years to our soldiers being jeered at or even forbidden from participating in peace missions abroad, to constantly being lambasted in international forums and, inevitably, for the SAS to no longer attract the quality of individual it once did.
Alas, this is the same military leadership that places ‘diversity’, ‘inclusion’ and other turgid left-wing fads above preserving at all costs the morale and single-minded focus of our deadliest fighting force.
Indeed, as Sun Tzu also said, ‘Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.’ The new progressive Aussie version would be something like ‘Treat your men as you would your beloved daughters if that’s what they identify as. And then punish the lot of them if anything bad happens in the deepest valley.’

I remember as a kid hearing about the KGB infiltrating churches so they could later arrest the pastors and other leaders. Communism hates Christianity and those who worship God so the CCP China virus has exposed this same hatred for God and Christianity in the West today. Now, in Canada ‘The Chilliwack RCMP says it is investigating whether in-person church services held Sunday contravened provincial health orders meant to slow the spread of COVID-19.
“Although the vast majority of places of worship in Chilliwack and throughout our region are complying with the directions of the provincial health order, a small number of congregations continue to conduct in-person services contrary to” the order, the RCMP said in a Sunday media release.
It comes after several churches in the Fraser Valley held in-person services last Sunday, defying the regulation they say violates their constitutional rights.
Langley’s Riverside Calvary Chapel was issued a $2,300 fine for violating the order.
Police said they would not comment further, in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of “all individuals.”
Both Free Grace Baptist Church and Free Reformed Church in Chilliwack also held services last weekend.
The province banned in-person worship on Nov. 19, citing surging COVID-19 case numbers.

Yes, the state knows better than you the parent! ‘This is where the “conversion therapy bans” and relentless demonization of Christian parents ends up–with children being forcibly removed from the family home.
This has already happened in several instances, but thus far primarily in cases where one parent opposes transition and other supports it (in two ongoing cases in Canada and the U.S., the mothers are supporting–and pushing–transition while the fathers oppose it.) In Australia, it has begun as well:
An Australian magistrate ordered that a gender-confused teenage girl be removed from her home after the magistrate called the parents’ refusal to allow her to ‘transition’ into a boy “abusive.”
Police removed the 15-year old from her home after the state children’s court magistrate cited in an October protection order the girl’s risk of self-harm. The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly discussed suicide in online chatrooms.
The parents, who also cannot be named, objected to what they described as bullying by authorities and are in the process of appealing the decision. They deny any abuse of their daughter.
“The authorities say we will not allow her to change gender, so it’s dangerous for her to come back to our house because we will mentally abuse her — they want us to consent to testosterone treatment,” the father told The Australian in a Nov. 28 report.
The parents expressed grief over the loss of their daughter, according to The Australian, and the mother said family and friends were shocked by the magistrate’s order.
“Especially Australians, they just can’t believe that it happens in Australia,” the mother said.
The parents are asking for a second opinion before doctors move ahead in giving their daughter hormone injections and possible surgery to make her look more like a male. Lawyers representing the teenager have already filed legal action on Nov. 7 for doctors to begin ‘transitioning’ the female to make her look male.
The country’s child protection authorities, however, have reportedly agreed to the parents’ request for a second opinion, reported The Australian.
A lawyer representing the parents says that the magistrate made an error in the decision when the magistrate insisted that the ruling had, in the words of The Australian report, “nothing to do with the causes of gender dysphoria or treatment options.” The lawyer filed the papers on Nov. 20.
“It’s controversial because different doctors can come up with different diagnoses and different treatments, so for parents to seek a second opinion before going along with irreversible treatment is wholly appropriate,” the lawyer, who also cannot be named, said.
Former political candidate Vickie Janson, a cultural conservationist and author from Melbourne, called the court’s pushing of the girl toward hormones to make her look more like a male “just reckless.”
“Even the lawyer can’t be named (needs protection?) when representing parents who seek ‘an independent psychologist to consider all possible underlying causes’ … rushing to damaging and irreversible treatments is just reckless,” she commented on Facebook in a Nov. 28 post.
Trans activists are successfully persuading both politicians and judges that when faced with gender dysphoria, there are only two options: Affirmation or suicide.
They do not explain why rates of gender dysphoria are spiking across the West; they demonize academics like Dr. Lisa Littman and Abigail Shrier who highlight the danger of this path; they celebrate permanent and irreversible physical damage as necessary transformation.
Some trans-friendly psychologists like Dr. Wallace Wong of British Columbia have turned trans kids into a cottage industry–Wong has actually been caught advising children to threaten suicide as a way of blackmailing their parents into accepting treatment they think might harm their children.
Conversion therapy is not only legal, it is encouraged. If you wish to persuade a boy or girl not to “transition” or “convert” to the opposite sex, progressives are calling that “conversion therapy.”

Ratcliffe noted that if the CCP supersedes the United States to become the world’s superpower, it would imperil “individual liberties, freedoms” around the world, adding that “free enterprise [is] all at stake.”
China is “altering DNA,” citing intelligence reports, Ratcliffe, the top U.S. intelligence official, said on Fox News Sunday.
“It’s one of the things our intelligence shows that China is doing. … The People’s Republic of China has 2 million strong in its military, and it’s trying to make them stronger through, you know, gene editing,” he remarked, adding that it’s “just one of the ways that, you know, China is trying to essentially dominate the planet and set the rules in the world order.”

Would the lovers of renewables lie to us? Well, ‘Tasmania’s recent announcement that it is being powered 100% of the time by renewable energy is so much fake news.
Tasmania does, indeed, have enviable hydropower resources, which Tasmania can fairly claim to be a “renewable energy source”.
However, Tasmania suffers severe droughts – just like every other part of Australia. And, when it does, the water eventually runs out. In which case, the Apple Isle either imports coal-fired power across the Bass Strait from Victoria via an undersea cable or, it does what it did a few years ago, and ships in hundreds of MWs worth of diesel generators.
There is very little solar power generated in Tasmania – a place renowned for its bitterly cold winters, snow and heavy rainfall. And it has a trivial 560 MW worth of wind power generation capacity which, of course, produces no power at all for around 60 to 70% of the time. So, in reality, any claims being made about Tasmania’s renewable energy generation hinges almost entirely on its hydropower resources.

The Tasmania government has declared that it has become the first Australian state, and one of just a handful of jurisdictions worldwide, to be powered entirely by renewable electricity.
In a statement released on Friday, Tasmanian energy minister Guy Barnett said that state had effectively become entirely self-sufficient for supplies of renewable electricity, supplied by the state’s wind and hydroelectricity projects.
“We have reached 100 per cent thanks to our commitment to realising Tasmania’s renewable energy potential through our nation-leading energy policies and making Tasmania attractive for industry investment, which in turn is creating jobs across the State, particularly in our regions,” Barnett said.
Tasmania has long had one of the greenest supplies of electricity in Australia, with the state’s significant hydroelectricity resources supplying the bulk of the state’s power. Tasmania’s history with hydroelectricity dates back to 1895, with the Duck Reach power plant in Launceston becoming the first publicly owned hydroelectric power station in the southern hemisphere.…

Tasmania’s electricity grid is facing its biggest challenge in years, with its hydro storage about to fall to its lowest levels ever, bushfires forcing the closure of some power facilities, and a faulty cable cutting the connection between the island and the country’s main electricity grid.
The Apple Isle’s main source of electricity – hydro power – is being challenged by its driest ever spring, pushing reserves down to just 18.9 per cent.
The lowest level ever is 16.5 per cent, reached in 2007, but overall storage levels are predicted to fall to a low of 14 per cent by the end of March – if normal rainfall patterns resume. At current rates, however, some fear they may fall below those levels, although there has been some light rain in recent days.
To make matters worse, the Basslink cable linking the island’s grid to the mainland has been cut by technical problems, and will probably remain closed for another two months, while the raging bushfires have threatened power lines and forced the temporary closure of at least four hydro plants …

I guess the lesson is if most of your state is a giant mountainous watershed you can build enough hydro to go 100% renewable. So not an option for most parts of the world.
Having said that, even the cold, rainy island state of Tasmania suffers droughts. If they have drained their dams selling green electrons to the mainland, and the rains fail, all it takes is a little of their regular undersea inter-connector trouble at the wrong time and they’re back to expensive diesel power. So not quite 100% renewable then.
And of course we’re quietly ignoring the fact Tasmania imports a lot of energy intensive goods.
The saddest part of this story, most of the green campaigners who risked their lives opposing bulldozing and flooding pristine wilderness during the 70s and 80s hydro construction projects have pretty much sold out to the idea of big green. One would have to be a hermit not to know something about Twitter’s double standards in what they allow and will not allow on their platform! Now, ‘In the past week, state-labeled accounts from the CCP of China have spread misinformation regarding the origins of COVID-19, pointing the finger at frozen food from Europe and Italy, in an attempt to shield themselves from culpability and obfuscate any investigation into their actions in Wuhan or their virology studies. The posts from Chinese state-run media have gone unchallenged by Twitter, and Twitter’s communications team, whose members apparently don’t like using their own platform, remains silent.
When Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian posted a photoshopped graphic of an Australian soldier with a knife to the neck of a young child, as part of an ongoing conflict between Australia and China, the topic trended on Twitter’s news feed. It garnered a featured spot in their news section. The tweet prompted a response from Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida in a letter directly addressed to Jack Dorsey about why Chinese state accounts are allowed to spread misinformation on his platform at will, while the President’s account is policed within mere minutes.
Rubio doesn’t have much authority to enforce Twitter’s rules on its behalf, but just as it comes to banning Twitter accounts along ideological lines, if Dorsey and Twitter won’t begin to enforce their own rules, then someone else will. But Rubio is asking valid questions. Why are Chinese state accounts allowed to spread conspiracies and misinformation against other countries or about the global pandemic they created, while Twitter executives and engineers simply look the other way? The answer might be even more troubling than what it appears to be on the surface.
Earlier this week, the New York Times reported that the likes of Nike and Apple are lobbying members of Congress against the Xinjiang Forced Labor Bill, which addresses American-based companies using forced labor camps, like the ones containing Uighur Muslims in China, to produce their products, or the materials that go into their products. These companies are arguing that the financial hit their supply chains will incur as a result of complete separation from China is not acceptable. Nike and Apple, you will recall, put up a woke facade this summer in the name of raking in millions of social-justice dollars for their products. Twitter does not offer a can of soda, or a pair of high priced trainers, but it’s not inconceivable to imagine that it views cultural investments in China in much the same way that movie studios such as Disney. Currently it’s illegal to use Twitter in China, though many Chinese people do so by using a VPN. Twitter claimed it was a routine effort to stop inauthentic and spam accounts, an excuse they’ve used in the past when it comes to censoring certain conservative accounts.
