As America’s public education system reports the worst literacy and math performance in decades, its schools dedicate increasingly immense portions of their time to lessons on the supposed virtues of racial and gender segregation.

With only eight hours per day and 180 school days per year, one would think that everyone from the newest teacher’s aide to the tenured administrators would call “all hands on deck” to spend every moment trying to close the enormous performance gaps inflamed by COVID-19 lockdowns.

Instead of utilizing data-proven methods to close gaps in literacy and math, like many private and microschools do, most public schools have centered on a different tactic: political distraction.

Reporters Steven Lee Myers and Sheera Frenkel made the front page of Tuesday’s New York Times with “G.O.P. Strikes At Researchers Into Deception — A legal campaign against universities and think tanks seeks to undermine the fight against false claims about elections, vaccines and other hot political topics.”

It’s yet another Times attempt to dismiss concerns about the government squelching of free speech in the name of protecting citizens from “misinformation” and “disinformation” regarding COVID. This time the angle was sympathy for university-based researchers who now have to justify pressuring social media outlets, especially Twitter, into censor conservatives whose views were considered dangerous by so-called “public health experts” – even when those views were correct.

On Capitol Hill and in the courts, Republican lawmakers and activists are mounting a sweeping legal campaign against universities, think tanks and private companies that study the spread of disinformation…

A government watchdog group shared exclusive documents with MRC Business exposing an apparently incestuous relationship between Bloomberg News and President Joe Biden’s Treasury Department

The Functional Government Initiative obtained documents through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. According to FGI’s press release shared with MRC Business, Bloomberg reporters gave Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen such favorable “coverage that they chafed under Treasury’s censorship of their stories, and weren’t shy about letting the Treasury Department know their displeasure.” This reeks of quid pro quo journalism.

One July 16, 2021 email caught in the FGI’s FOIA net involved correspondence between Bloomberg News Senior Washington Correspondent Saleha Mohsin and Treasury Department Assistant Secretaries for Public Affairs Calvin Mitchell and Lily Adams.
