‘SYDNEY LEGAL STUDENTS TAUGHT SHARIA LAW
THE most prestigious law school in Australia has two courses which call for elements of sharia law to be recognised in the mainstream legal system — including allowances for polygamy and lowering the age of consent.’ https://myaccount.news.com.au/sites/dailytelegraph/subscribe.html?sourceCode=DTWEB_WRE170_a_GGL&mode=premium&dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailytelegraph.com.au%2Fnews%2Fnsw%2Fsydney-uni-adopts-law-courses-pushing-for-sharia-law-in-australian-legal-system%2Fnews-story%2F2a7fc86e24920b10164945b50e5ed5ae%3Fnk%3D62b70df73a0357bf907ff1869ed0bb82-1528068122&memtype=anonymous&v21=cta-jt&v21suffix=cta-jt
‘I liked it when the most offensive word heard in the movies was damn; when actors kissed with their mouths shut; when you could watch television all day and never hear a
curse word; when it was assumed by everyone that no sane person accepted same-sex “marriage”; when there was no doubt what gender a person was; when it was illegal for a man to be in a motel room with an unmarried, unrelated female; when a woman stayed at home if she and her husband chose to do so; when a wife knew she had a right to stay home without being considered a female wimp; when daycare was unnecessary; when families ate dinner together–at home and the menu was “Take it or Leave it”; when you married first then lived together; and when a husband’s major responsibility was to his wife–to love her, lead her, and lift her.’ http://donboys.cstnews.com/a-return-to-a-modest-moral-mannerly-america
Australia has followed the rest of the world’s Western nations by legalizing those of the same gender to ‘marry’. Will this have an affect on Christians?
‘Christians in Australia are looking to their Parliament for protection after a campaign to legalize same-gender marriage.
Australia conducted an unprecedented mail survey of voters and 62 percent of those returning the postal cards favored same-gender marriage.
The issue is being discussed now with a plan by Parliament to rush through a new law by early December when Parliament ends its 2017 session.
Despite the lopsided results the campaign does not reflect the views of many Austrialians, especially Christian believers in the country, says Jack Sonnemann, who heads the Australian Federation for the Family.
“We do have Christian activist groups here in the nation that are lobbying Parliament,” he says, “and trying to get some sanity into this situation to let the parliamentarians know that marriage should be as our marriage act proclaims: the voluntary union of one man and one woman entered into for life.”
The battle is on as Dean Smith, an openly homosexual Australian senator, has introduced a bill to limit those who refuse to take part in or recognize homosexual marriage, including pastors and their churches.
Another battle before lawmakers is the impact, if same-gender marriage is legalized, on those who oppose homosexual marriage, especially Christians.
Some senators, in fact, are pushing for amendments to protect business owners, no doubt aware of Christian bakers and others in the U.S. fighting – and losing – a legal battle to adhere to their beliefs despite sweeping laws.
“There needs to be several parliamentary amendments to come in to where their Christian conscience won’t be violated,” Sonnemann says.’ https://www.onenewsnow.com/culture/2017/11/17/christians-in-australia-fight-to-remain-so
Smoking kills so they say. Yet, the same people promote sex outside of marriage. I say all of that because some years ago I wrote a letter to the Editor of the local paper on the issue of sexually transmitted diseases. I related that these would be curtailed and even eliminated if people followed Biblical monogamous lives and marriages. A nurse with the Health system responded in a negative letter saying monogamy was not the answer. Well, that is why we are reading the following article which appeared November 7, 2017.
‘People in the state’s west have been urged to “protect your sexual health” after a national report found a dramatic increase in rates of gonorrhoea and HIV in certain demographic groups.
The report by the University of NSW’s Kirby Institute revealed the number of Australians diagnosed with gonorrhoea increased by 63 per cent in the past five years, with spikes in the number of men and heterosexual city-dwellers infected.
Regional reports of gonorrhoea increased by 15 per cent, while remote areas declined by 8 per cent.
Rates of gonorrhoea were seven times higher among Indigenous Australians, and three times higher for chlamydia compared with the non-Indigenous population.
Overall, HIV diagnoses have remained the same over the past five years, with 1013 new diagnoses in 2016 compared with 1066 in 2012.
However, HIV transmission among Indigenous Australians has increased by 39 per cent since 2012.
“Because of the very small numbers, it is difficult to see a reliable trend,” Western NSW LHD manager HIV/AIDS and Related Programs, Ann Ryan, said.
“However the findings of the Kirby Institute’s research is a timely reminder that everyone needs to protect their sexual health.
“Your family doctor or the Dubbo sexual health clinic can provide advice on how to reduce your risk of exposure, and arrange testing and treatment where needed.””http://www.dailyliberal.com.au/story/5038909/dubbo-residents-urged-to-check-sexual-health-graph/?cs=122
Even a non-Christian with common sense should see that a monogamous lifestyle before marriage and a mongamous marriage would be the answer! However, note the word common-sense!
‘In advance of the ‘yes’ campaign’s appearance at the National Press Club, the Coalition for Marriage today released ten questions which the ‘yes’ campaign is yet to answer.
In countries where same-sex marriage has been legalised, people have been kicked out of university courses, fired, denied business or employment or forced to resign for expressing an opinion on marriage. Additionally, the rights of parents to shield their children from radical LGBTIQ sex and gender programs taught at school have been taken away.
Can Tiernan Brady ensure this will not happen in Australia?
The Coalition for Marriage calls on Tiernan Brady and Janine Middleton to use their appearance at the National Press Club to answer questions pertaining to the threat to religious freedom, freedom of speech and the link to radical sex education programs.
- Can you state right now what levels of religious freedom your campaign is willing to accept in any legislation passed to redefine marriage?
- Can you state right now what levels of protections for freedom of speech your campaign is willing to accept in any legislation to redefine marriage?
- Can you guarantee that radical LGBTIQ sex and gender education will not become compulsory in Australia as has occurred overseas?
- Do you agree with Bill Shorten’s proposal to wind back conscience protections if they are included in a law to change the Marriage Act passed under a Coalition government?
- If a change in marriage law has no consequences for religious freedom, how do you explain the Irish government overturning religious freedom protections just months after the referendum?
- Explain why ministers of religion should not worry that a ‘progressive’ government like that led by Stefan Löfven would seek to overturn protections for them
- Do you agree with the actions of your predecessor, Rodney Croome, who encouraged people to use anti-discrimination laws to take a Catholic Archbishop to the anti-discrimination commission?
- Do you agree with your colleague, Alex Greenwich, that there have been examples overseas of religious freedom being restricted after same sex marriage becomes law and, if so can you elaborate on these examples?
- Explain why the case of Vishnitz Girls School could never happen here?
- Explain why the Trinity Western University case could not happen here?
The ‘yes’ campaign owes it to the Australian people to explain clearly where it stands on issues of free speech, the freedom of religion and parental rights in relation to radical LGBTIQ sex and gender education before the public is asked to vote.’ https://www.coalitionformarriage.com.au/ten_questions_for_tiernan_brady
