Last week, The New York Times continued its ongoing breakdown over Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia for scuttling President Biden’s “climate change” agenda and dooming mankind to perdition with “Manchin Pulls Plug on Climate and Tax Talks, Shrinking Domestic Plan” courtesy of Times reporters Emily Cochrane and Lisa Friedman letting climate-change activists have emotional breakdowns in print (and using Manchin as a scapegoat for a doomed planet):

Tiernan Sittenfeld, the senior vice president for government affairs at the League of Conservation Voters, a nonprofit group, said Mr. Manchin had condemned future generations.

“There truly aren’t words, at least words that are suitable for printing in The New York Times, for how appalled and outraged we are,” she said.

Washington Post “Fact Checker” Glenn Kessler huffed and puffed on Tuesday about “The misplaced outrage over Hunter Biden and U.S. oil reserves bought by China.” One of the “liars” in this outrage was the Washington Free Beacon. In an editorial titled Fact Checking’s Final Frontier, they replied “We at the Washington Free Beacon love the fact-checkers. When they’re ‘fact-checking’ us, we know we must be doing something right.”

They called Kessler’s article “a master class in the left’s crusade to conflate objective truth with Democratic spin.”

Kessler didn’t find anything in the Free Beacon’s reporting that was a lie. It’s just that “simple facts” were turned “nefarious.” He didn’t like the impression they were pushing:

The pathway to a green future involves taking millions of acres of pristine wilderness and turning them into fields of windmills and hot expanses of glistening panels.

The Biden Administration’s goal of supplying 40% of the nation’s energy from the sun by 2035 means covering millions of acres of forest and desert habitat with vast solar panel installations fenced off like prisons. It would require 8,800 square miles of land, or 5.6 million acres, to generate that power (leaving out small installations on buildings and the like) — about the size of Rhode Island and Massachusetts combined.

But the push to convert that land from pastoral to energy-productive is galvanizing a new environmental movement, one led by citizen groups and small non-profits rather than the monied green interests arrayed against them — ones ironically accustomed to casting the fossil fuel…

Massive subsidies fuel the wind industry, while self-generated myth and glowing propaganda just grease the wheels.

For wind industry spin-kings, one pesky problem that won’t go away is the routine and catastrophic collapses of these 300 tonne whirling wonders.

Over the last few years, there have been hundreds of ‘structural failures’ – where either 10-15 tonne blades are shredded or flung in all directions; or their 90-100m towers implode, unceremoniously delivering the 80-100 tonne nacelle to terra firma, with terrifying effect.

But these ‘fun facts’ don’t sit well with the wind industry’s glib claims of being safe, clean and green.

What’s on foot is a move to bring those reactors onshore and use them to shore up power grids being wrecked by the chaotic intermittency of wind and solar.
