Canadian Pastor ‘Phil, his associate pastor Cody Butler, and their church, His Tabernacle Community Church in Saint John, New Brunswick have been at the centre of a fight for religious freedom during the pandemic lockdown on society. The church and pastoral duo have been under constant surveillance by law enforcement and health authorities after refusing to police their congregation for COVID restriction compliance from the pulpit.
Restrictions when His Tabernacle Church first came on the radar of the province required places of worship to encourage vaccination, contract-trace congregations right down to the pew church goers sit in, force worshippers to mask and social distance, enforce arbitrary capacity limits, and ban singing.
For refusing to be the eyes and ears, and the enforcement arm of the state inside their church, Phil, Cody, the church and their families were visited repeatedly and watched by cops. Cody was arrested and hauled out of the church as he was giving the Thanksgiving Sunday service. Phil was summoned to court and sent straight to jail for over a week. This is unbelievable but it did occur! ‘In November, Dr. Melvin Bruchet and his friend, Dr. Daniel Nagase, filed criminal charges against elected and appointed BC government officials over a possible conflict of interest regarding provincial lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and vaccine passports. The doctors exposed a severe spike in stillbirths at a Vancouver hospital. The women were injected with the experimental Covid “vaccine” in all cases. In December 2021, the Canadian government targeted Dr. Melvin Bruchet and unlawfully placed him in detention against his will.’

‘MELTING GLACIERS MAKE MORE SALMON RIVERS: Glaciers in the Pacific Northwest of USA and Canada are melting and turning into streams of flowing fresh water. Scientists from the University of Birmingham have studied some of these new rivers and found salmon had colonised them when migrating from the ocean into rivers in order to spawn. These scientists have joined with Kara Pitman, a geomorphologist at Simon Fraser University, and colleagues from USA and Switzerland to estimate how much extra salmon habitat will become available if 315 of the thousands of glaciers in the Pacific Northwest USA and Canada melt according to current climate change models. They estimated a potential increase in rivers of 6,150 km. This is almost the equivalent of the length of the Mississippi River. Taking into account that salmon need pristine rivers of cool flowing water with a less than 10% incline the researchers estimated the salmon habitat in this region would increase by 27%. Kara Pitman commented: “Once conditions stabilise in the newly-formed streams, salmon can colonise these areas quite quickly. It’s a common misconception that all salmon return home to the streams they were born in. Most do, but some individuals will stray — migrating into new streams to spawn and, if conditions are favourable, the population can increase rapidly”. Alexander Milner a river ecologist at the University of Birmingham, explained: “Colonization by salmon can occur relatively quickly after glacial retreat creates favourable spawning habitat in the new stream. For example, Stonefly Creek was colonised within 10 years by pink salmon that grew rapidly to more than 5,000 spawners. Other species also colonised including Coho and Sockeye salmon, especially where a lake is associated with the stream”. Greg Knox, of SkeenaWild Conservation Trust, a salmon conservation organisation, commented: “It shows you how adaptive and resilient salmon are”.

ED. COM. Congrats folks you have made proper use of the term “adaptive”. Adaptation is the inbuilt ability to cope with changes in the environment, and the real history of the world tells us salmon have done this in the past and are doing it again as the environment changes.
After Noah’s Flood the surface of the earth was completely changed and new land masses, complete with new rivers, were formed. Salmon responding to an inbuilt need to spawn in freshwater found these rivers and colonised them. Most salmon return to their river of origin, but as new rivers formed as a result of earth movements and changing rainfall patterns, salmon and other living things found them and colonised them. The ice age would have devastated the salmon population as many rivers were turned to uninhabitable glaciers. Glaciers should not be romanticised because they make picturesque landscape paintings and photos. They are destructive and barren masses of ice which devastate the landscape. As this study shows, melting glaciers allow a landscape to come back to life and provide habitat for many living things. Some very large environmental changes have occurred since the world began, and all things currently alive, plant or animal, have coped with them or died out, but none have evolved.

‘In 1611 Good King James was sure one verse in the Bible did not apply to him. Oh he loved Romans 13:1-3 about the God given authority of rulers, but his life showed his feeling that verse 4 held little application to him when it said “For he (King, Authority and Government etc) is the minster of God to thee for good.” The King was sure that he too was Authorised to be God’s divine appointee, so he could rule accordingly and the old battle over the divine right of kings was never far from the surface in his realm. Similar attitudes still plague us even though government by democracies have largely replaced the Monarchy.
So don’t make the mistake of reading Foxes Book of Martyrs (1563), or the lives of William Tyndale (killed 1536), Bonhoffer (killed 1945) or Richard Wurmbrandt (imprisoned by communists 14 yrs), then holding those persecuted saints as heroes of the faith, unless you also admit they were in trouble and many put to death for disobeying the ungodly government and all church institutions that supported the government.
What the governments of the day had demanded that those martyrs do was ‘not good’, and as such the persecuted had every authority to disobey such demands, given by the highest authority – the Creator Lord God! I say this because Romans 13 is bandied about by way too many people as giving government ‘all’ authority – something the Lord Jesus never gives to any human institution, secular or church!
Just as Thomas Jefferson said in 1786 ‘… the Freedom of the Press cannot be limited without being lost.’
Then as Australian Judge Sir John Grieg Latham (1877- 1964) stated so bluntly: “A pretended law made in excess of power is not and never has been a law at all. Anybody is entitled to disobey it.”
Now I must update this to read; ‘If human authority is NOT limited, then mankind’s freedom is already lost and history shows it is rarely regained without bloodshed and death.’
The good news from Romans chapter 13 is that the government – any government – King, presidency, democracy or whatever, is only authorised to do good. That ‘good’ is defined by God alone through His Word alone and not by Clergy of Government. When any authority ceases to do good it can be opposed. When it does evil, it must be opposed no matter what the price.
For the same reason the apostle Paul writes in Romans 15:4 that “all these things were written for our learning”, so if you want to understand how to react to any ungodly government that is exceeding its authority, then read the records from Genesis to Malachi and ask why so many of the saints were in trouble – a large majority were punished for disobeying the governments of the day. Whether it was Daniel in the lion’s den or even Moses, their doing what was good in the Lord God’s eyes is your example for refusing to do what may be currently mandated as compulsory in man’s view but is repulsive to God in all matters of faith and conduct.
Now can you see why we are instructed to pray for “kings and all in authority” (I Tim 2:1-2). We all benefit when His will is done and His kingdom come.
