Yes, Quentin Tarantino intentionally misspelled “Inglourious Basterds,” the title of his 2009 fictional film about the recruitment of Jews for a U.S. Army commando platoon led by Lt. Aldo “The Apache” Raine, whose mission was to kill Nazis. Raine is a Smoky Mountain bootlegger — which is to say, a kindred spirit.
