I get nervous traveling alone, because I get recognized a lot and sometimes it can feel weird having people looking at me, take pics of me, and talking about me like I can’t hear![]()
Well, yesterday I was very aware of the man in front of me who kept looking back at me. And then he did the classic pull his phone out and hold it up real high and zoom in to take a selfie of me as if I couldn’t see it
that is a very awkward moment ![]()
I of course thought he was just doing that bc he recognized me… that’s definitely not the first time that’s happened.
When the flight ended he walked up to me and he said, “I fly all the time. I’ve seen a lot on airplanes, but I have never seen anyone studying a bible. I had to get a picture. God bless you.” ![]()
Wow. It kind of shook me. I felt bad for assuming what he was doing, but was amazed to hear the reason why he stopped to get a pic. He had no idea “who I was.” He was just amazed a bible was out in the open being read and underlined.
It made me kind of sad that this man who travels all the time had never seen that before and that the Bible was shocking enough to whip out his phone and get a picture of someone reading.
There are many many places in the world you can’t pull out your bible in public to read, and I’m thankful I am able to do that.
I bring my bible pretty much anywhere I would bring my purse with me. It makes me feel so secure and confident. It reminds me of who I am, what my purpose is, and how to love people well.
I guess I just wanted to post this because there is a scripture in Judges right after Joshua that says, “And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel.”
That seems crazy! But when I look around I’m starting to see how that could happen. I hope it’s not that shocking to see a bible out. I encourage you church to not sleep on this generation!‘ From an email received from https://theiowastandard.com/

. However, I do read the news and Duck Dynasty’s Phil has really stirred a hornet’s nest in the USA with his paraphrasing of One Corinthians 6. Here are those words from 1Corinthians 6:9 – 10 which Phil paraphrased. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (these are the sodomite, the present day gays or homosexuals), 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
Matthew Henry (18 October 1662 – 22 June 1714) said of all these people in those verses as “The scum of the earth are no ways fit to fill the heavenly mansions.” Now, these “abusers of themselves with mankind” of whom Paul speaks are what used to be known as sodomites but today have labelled themselves as “gay”. Gay is certainly is not the appropriate word to use for two men performing an act that God created only for a man and woman! Aside from the fact that there are health consequences to homosexual sex the main purpose of sex is reproduction. There is absolutely no reproduction between two men or two women!
Paul also said to Timothy in his first epistle that “the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind (these are Sodomites, homosexuals), for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine” 1 Timothy 1: 9 – 10. NOTE, the law was given for the people described here, of which the homosexual is included, and they are said to be “the ungodly’ and “sinners”. It is said here that it was for these that Christ died, Roman 5:6 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”
The reality is that unless a person admits they are a sinner and repents of their sins, they will not enter the kingdom of God! That is a simple fact of Scripture. Yes, the homosexual is included in this! This is not being unkind or unloving but it is being truthful as to what the Scriptures teach.
The churches need to wake up and begin to preach that Christ died for the all the ungodly before laws are passed prohibiting such preaching! The homosexual crowd have brought this issue into the public forum and the churches MUST reply in the public forum by stating what God’s Word says and not what is politically correct.
Yes, abortion is sin, adultery is sin, stealing is sin, lying is sin and so is homosexuality!!!! Sadly, many of us will probably be affected in someway someday by homosexuality via one of our children or grandchildren. When and if that does occur the Bible hasn’t changed and neither should we. As we love our children and grandchildren no matter what, so God so much more loves the sinner. Yes John 3:16 is still in the Bible; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” and so is Romans 5:6 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” We were all in that group called the “ungodly” before we were born again.
If I was answering the GQ magazine’s question I may not have stated it the way Phil did but he had (and as far as I know he still has) the freedom to state his beliefs even though they are not politically correct. Some Christians have stated the subject of one’s sexuality is a matter that should not be discussed in a public forum. Well, Phil is a public figure doing an interview with a public magazine that would be read by the public. He was asked a question and he answered the question. So be it. Does he not have the right as an American citizen to answer a question with what he truly believes? Or do only those who agree with the homosexuals have that right?
There is a lot more that could be said and perhaps should be said here but REMEMBER, when Duck Dynasty has run its course (and it will) the world will turn to another programme but God’s Word will remain the same and the homosexual along with all unrepentant sinners will not “inherit the kingdom of God”.
