Engineers built reliable and affordable power supplies; ideologues obsessed with intermittent wind and solar are rapidly dismantling them. Why engineers allowed that to happen is something of a mystery.

Sure, renewable energy rent-seekers have exploited opportunities created around ‘saving the planet’ by purportedly ridding it of man-made carbon dioxide gas by using wind turbines and solar panels (which do neither).

And, yes, a naïve and gullible political class – backed by an equally naïve and gullible press – have provided the basis for the greatest economic and environmental fraud of all time.

But to explain how disciplined professionals, who actually know what they are talking about, to allow it to happen, is something else.

Bureaucracies are naturally bloated and filled with dimwits and yes-men. Regulators are usually in on the scam (whatever it might be) – with those employed always eager to join those that they’re meant to be regulating…

To call Australia’s wind power output “pathetic” is to flatter it. Turbines with a total capacity of 10,277 MW are spread from Far North Queensland, across New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia – and all connected to the Eastern Grid.

On rare occasions, the combined output reaches around 60% of their total notional capacity, and then, only briefly.

On plenty of occasions, the output barely rises above 6%. And 5,000 to 6,000 MW collapses occur with banal regularity.

For example, on 4 May 2023, combined output reached 6,341 MW, before plummeting 5,901 MW to a piddling 440 MW.

When a single 500 MW generating unit at a coal-fired power plant breaks down, the renewables cult and MSM hacks rant and rave about the ‘unreliability of coal’.

But the same clowns switch to a practiced form of deliberate ignorance, when they omit to mention wind power output collapses 10…

How many energy-efficiency mandates are too many?

The correct answer is zero.

But for the Biden administration, it might be infinity, because the Department of Energy just announced yet another round of efficiency mandates for consumer appliances.

The move is just one in a string of similar regulations targeting everything from gas stoves to vending machines to refrigerators—all introduced in a supposed bid to combat “climate change.”

This time, dishwashers are the object of the administration’s wrath.

Like the rest of the DOE’s efficiency mandates, the proposed rule on dishwashers is predicated on the Environmental Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, born in an era of perceived energy scarcity.
