Latinx is the word that just won’t die.
The word reentered the national consciousness Monday when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., attempted to boost the word, and accused people of starting drama over it.
In a video posted on her Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez said, “I want to have a note on gender inclusivity in Spanish language. People sometimes like to make a lot of drama over the term Latinx.”
Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continue to use the phrase Latinx long after it’s been shown Latinos hate it. Pictured: Ocasio-Cortez conducts a news conference in the Capitol Visitor Center on April 7. (Photo: Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc/Getty Images)
“Gender is fluid, language is fluid,” she said before concluding, “Don’t have to make drama.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ocasio-Cortez is not just wildly out of step with the American people, but Latinos as well.
A Gallup poll from last August shows just…

The front page of Monday’s New York Times acknowledged the obvious: The crime issue is hurting Democrats badly on the ground: “Debate on Crime Splits San Francisco Democrats.” The report from Tim Arango and Thomas Fuller spotlighted San Francisco’s controversial District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who may prove too far left for…San Francisco?
Boudin’s has impeccable leftist family ties. His parents, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were Weather Underground members, convicted of murder for driving the getaway car in the Brink’s armed car robbery in 1981 in which two police officers and a security guard were killed. He was then raised by Weather Underground member and future Obama comrade Bill Ayers.
As the former chair of the San Francisco Democratic Party, Mary Jung has a long list of liberal bona fides, including her early days in politics volunteering in Ohio for the presidential campaign of George McGovern…

Who are these people? Will this judgement change your life?

Actor Johnny Depp brought a defamation case against his former wife, actress Amber Heard, after she made domestic abuse allegations in a 2018 piece for the Washington Post. Most everyone, right and left, following the trial believed Depp and considered Heard a liar, an opinion supported by the jury verdict in Depp’s favor — that Heard libeled him with “actual malice.” It’s left the liberals at the New York Times discombobulated, disturbed that the wrong verdict was reached.
Movie critic (yes) A.O. Scott gave the verdict zero stars in Saturday’s paper. A.O. Scott’s one-word summary: Misogyny! “Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Verdict: The Actual Malice of the Trial.”
The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial was, from gavel to gavel, a singularly baffling, unedifying and sad spectacle. Now that it has ended with the jury finding in favor of Depp on all questions and in favor of Heard on only…

It’s their religion!

Germany’s new Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government vice chancellor and economic minister Robert Habeck, a leading member of his country’s Green Party, has experienced a rude lesson regarding disastrous consequences of his years of naïve opposition to fossil fuels.
After tasking his top officials to assess energy security implications of Germany’s dependence on Russian supplies in the event of a then- looming Ukraine invasion, their conclusions were desperately dispiriting.
Habeck reportedly told an interviewer: “I thought to myself ‘the situation we are in is a catastrophe. I can’t possibly take responsibility for perpetuating this total, terrible helplessness.’”
What had Habeck belatedly realized?
A major lesson—and one we might expect would have been obvious very early one—is that wind energy which Germany built a lot of is neither reliable nor cheap.
As a matter of fact, Germany—with the highest installed wind power capacity in Europe, also, along…

If you can’t buy a gun because no one makes them anymore, you’ve effectively banned guns.
The ease with which President Joe Biden and other leftists stand on the bodies of dead Americans to further divide us is disgusting. He did it again Thursday night during an address to the nation on “gun violence.”
Biden began by saying that he didn’t want to ban guns. But then he talked about banning so-called “assault weapons,” and again demanded a radical proposal that would allow left-wing activists to sue firearms manufacturers into bankruptcy.
This is an absurd idea. No one is suggesting that Ford should be sued because some maniac drove a Ford SUV into a Christmas parade. But if you can’t buy a gun because no one makes them anymore, you’ve effectively banned guns.
Biden also threw out a hodgepodge of “do something” ideas. (I addressed the…
