Goldilocks-thinking is the basis for the wind and solar transition, which relies on power sources that can only operate when conditions are “just right”.
When the weather turns nasty, giant industrial wind turbines simply turn off. When there’s no wind, they produce nothing; when winds hit gale force, they produce nothing.
Solar panels aren’t any more resilient.
A few fluffy clouds give them grief.
Hailstones make short work of them; a blanket of snow and ice cuts their production to nothing, even when the sun is shining.
A hurricane or tornado soon tears them to worthless shreds.
As the wind and sun cult would have it, however, the answer is always more wind and solar capacity, not less.
Their central and founding myth is that solar panels and wind turbines are gradually, inevitably replacing conventional generators, especially coal-fired power plants.

Net-zero carbon dioxide gas emissions targets are just another example of ‘glorious five-year plans’ with monstrous results for all and sundry.
The malevolent dictator loves grand sweeping visions, particularly those that diminish their enemies and transfer their wealth to their friends and cronies.
So it is with mandated and equally malevolent diktats aimed at reducing carbon dioxide gas emissions.
China’s great Chairman, Mao Zedong would recognise the language and mission at once.

If reducing CO2 emissions is the justification for industrializing the ocean with offshore wind, then we need to know what the cost per ton of CO2 reduction is. This number is likely to be ridiculously large, on the order of thousands of dollars a ton.
We have already discussed the reduction analysis part, finding that the reductions are likely to be relatively small per MW of wind generating capacity. See my https://www.cfact.org/2023/05/31/offshore-wind-may-not-reduce-co2-emissions/.
On the cost side, offshore wind is already very expensive, but it is bound to get much worse. The global stampede to build huge numbers of industrial wind-generating facilities is widely predicted to strain the supply chain seriously. The inevitable result will be shortages and price spikes.

June is designated as “Pride Month,” which is allegedly about inclusion and diversity, but the Pride Police don’t actually believe in that. There is no diversity of opinions on LGBTQ issues. It’s “My Way” or the Bigot Highway. They say Pride Month is about visibility, but there shall be no visibility for any resistance. Their mentality: agree, or vanish.
In Grand Rapids, Michigan, “scandal” erupted when a news manager at WOOD-TV wrote a memo to staff to remember that there were two differing views on Pride events in the community. Quickly, the station’s owner – Nexstar, the largest owner of TV stations in America – apologized for and insisted this both-sides memo was “not consistent with Nexstar’s values, the way we cover the news, or the respect we have for our viewers.”
There shall be only one side of these issues. That shows “respect” for….some members…

Power grids are finally balanced affairs that were never designed for the haphazard occasional delivery of wind and solar. Maintaining voltage and frequency within critical defined tolerances is a cinch with conventional generators, like nuclear, gas and coal-fired plants, which deliver the goods, around-the-clock and irrespective of the weather.
Around 20 years ago, deranged zealots hijacked energy policy and they have no appreciation of any of the simple facts above.
Rather, as with any cult, they simply cling to their founding myth, ignoring any unhelpful fact, deriding those who might point to reality as dangerous heretics.
But, as Robert Louis Stevenson pointed out, sooner or later we all sit down to a banquet of consequences. Reality bites, often with a vengeance.
