Thirty years ago, Texas attorney and civil libertarian Mike Godwin, then associated with the Electronic Frontier Foundation but more recently associated with the ChiCom-controlled social media data-mining platform TikTok, sarcastically asserted a “natural law of Usenet” — Usenet being an early computer-based communication system that preceded the World Wide Web.
