2Timothy 4:6, 7 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Most of those who read this have already read or heard about the fall of Pastor Jack Schapp of First Baptist Church, Hammond, Indiana. First Baptist of Hammond was pastored by the well-known Jack Hyles for forty two years. However, twelve years before Hyles’ death the Biblical Evangelist edited by Bob Sumner published “The Saddest Story We Ever Published” accusing Hyles of having an adulterous relationship with a woman in his church, financial misappropriations and certain doctrinal errors. If you ever heard Jack Hyles you heard (between snorts) some things that would have been called heretical if he had been anything but an independent fundamental Baptist.
Schapp was Hyles’ son in-law and the controversy that surrounded Hyles in his later years now surrounds Schapp. The difference is Schapp and the girl involved has both admitted to the adulterous relationship.
Schapp didn’t last as long as Hyles so Schapp doesn’t have a statue memorializing him but Hyles does on the campus of Hyles Anderson College. With all the scandal Hyles and Schapp have left as their legacy, this statue should be taken down just as Penn State took down Paterno’s. Whatyareckon?

I reckon so!!

All statues should be removed. Shame on them for erecting a graven image on their campus
