When we were back in the states earlier this year Obama released five Islamic terrorists from Gitmo in return for one AWOL soldier named Bergdahl. I thought this AWOL soldier should have been tried for treason rather than welcomed home and those thoughts have not changed! The following is from Incidents and Illustrations by Evangelist Robert L. Sumner concerning Bergdahl, Obama and an AWOL Muslim Marine. What a trio!
DO MILITARY ARMIES MAKE PRISONER SWAPS? Obama said there is a long military tradition of prisoner exchanges. That is true! And here is the historic basis of such swaps: one private for one private (even); one lieutenant for one platoon; one major for one company; one general for one battalion. Since the five Obama gave up from Gitmo were the equivalent of generals in rank, he should have received five battalions (not a single private) in exchange!
In military language a battalion is defined by our office unabridged dictionary as “a tactical military unit composed basically of a headquarters and two or more companies, batteries, or similar units.” Wikipedia explains it like this: “A battalion is a military unit with 300 to 1,200 soldiers that usually consists of two to seven companies and is commanded by either a lieutenant colonel or a colonel, if in the United States Army or the United States Marine Corps.”
In short, Obama should have received from 1,500 to 6,000 of our soldiers – including five lieutenant colonels or colonels – for the five terrorist prisoners (generals) he exchanged. If he is going to tell it like it is, he ought to tell the truth. Oh, wait, this is Obama we are talking about, isn’t it?
NO SERVICEMAN LEFT BEHIND! Let’s bring home Marine Wassef Ali Hassoun! In the spirit of Bowe Bergdahl, let’s bring home this marine. Like Bergdahl, he was a deserter in Iraq, walking out from Camp Fallujah. Captured, he was brought back to the USA to Virginia’s Quantico Marine base, and then sent to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina for his military court marshal.
Oops! He disappeared the second time after visiting family. Currently he is rumored to be in his native Lebanon. Michelle Malkin told the story in one of her columns.
If Obama could find Bergdahl, surely he could find Hassoun. And surely he doesn’t want one of our soldiers “left behind,” does he? Strangely, Wassef is from Utah, Mormon country, as is Bergdahl (Idaho).
Strangely again, his story sounds very much like Mr. Bergdahl’s. Malkin wrote: “The Muslim Marine told his colleagues he supported Hezbollah terrorist attacks on Israel. Members of his unit told investigators he was ‘anti-American’ and listened to jihad sermons on propaganda CDs. Hassoun had received spiritual counseling from Navy Lt. Cmdr. Abuhena Saifulislam, a Muslim military chaplain tied to a radical Wahhabist outfit under federal investigation, according to Hoover Institution fellow and journalist Paul Sperry.”
She added: “Ten summers after he abandoned his post, double-deserting Hassoun is still on the run and has yet to be held accountable.”
