| VAMPIRE FINCHES EVOLVE, claim scientists and David Attenborough, according to articles in Science Alert 16 January 2021, Smithsonian News 22 January 2021 and The Conversation 15 January 2021 and New Scientist 14 January 2021. Finches on two of the most northerly islands of the Galapagos Islands have been found to feed on the blood of seabirds that also live on the islands. The two islands, named Wolf and Darwin, are barren rocky islands with limited food sources, so scientists suggest ground finches named Geospiza septentrionalis originally co-existed with the red-footed and Nazca boobies, which also nest on the islands, and picked off parasites from the feathers of the boobies, as well as eating seeds and insects. In barren years the finches progressed to using their sharp beaks to puncture the skin of the boobies and drink blood from resulting wounds. The researchers wrote in The Conversation: “Natural selection appears to have fine-tuned the vampire finch beak for skin-piercing and blood-sucking, as the birds have evolved particularly long and pointy beaks compared to non-blood-feeding populations on other islands”. They also claimed the finches resort to drinking blood for survival when they can’t find other food sources like seeds and insects. Vampire finches are featured in David Attenborough’s latest series “A Perfect Planet”, which “examines what made Earth so perfect for life”. According to a review in New Scientist the series “looks at the most influential natural forces, including sunlight and ocean currents, that create the ideal conditions to create and support life”. The reason the earth is perfect for life is as the prophet Isaiah reminds us, because the Lord God both created it and made it to be inhabited (Isaiah 45:18-19). Therefore, it has all the right physical and chemical properties needed to sustain life. Natural forces such as sunlight and ocean currents cannot create life which requires genetic information. Molecules randomly bashing into one another under the influence of light and flowing water never make anything including DNA. We would also remind David Attenborough that earth was only perfect when God the Creator had completed it and declared it to be “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Since then it has degenerated significantly as a result of human sin and God’s judgement, and is now a tragic mixture of good and bad. The vampire finches, along with the other animals and birds struggling to survive in the harsh conditions included in Attenborough’s series, are a classic example of this. In the beginning, when the world was perfect, all animals were given plants to eat. In that very good world there would have been plenty of nutritious plant food, such as nectar, fruits and seeds for the original created finches to eat. It was only after the world degenerated, especially after the devastation of Noah’s Flood, that finches had to scrape up a living in harsh conditions like the Galapagos Islands. Those that ended up on tiny barren islands used whatever resources they already had to find food, which means those that already had sharp beaks could extract blood from other birds. Those that didn’t have sharp beaks died out when there were no seeds or insects to eat. This is natural selection and the struggle for life at work. These are real processes, but they are not creative processes, and they won’t make anything evolve. They are destructive processes that can only eliminate those living things that are ill equipped for the struggle in a particular environment. Those who want to believe that God used evolution to create need to be reminded that the processes ascribed to evolution, e.g. natural selection, survival of the fittest, only result in death and destruction, and cannot be called “very good”. These processes only came into the world after man sinned and God judged the world. This is one of the most serious problems of the belief of theistic evolution. ‘INDIGENOUS REALITIES: From cries and placards of ‘Always was – Always will be aboriginal land,’ through musical strains of ‘I am, you are, we are Australian’ to ‘Barbies on the Beach’ – few people who celebrated Australia Day Downunder realised no-one was “Australian”, until January 26, 1949, when ‘Aussies’ could first travel with authorised Australian passports, and not British ones! When this Editor grew up, the debate topic at schools was ‘Am I still British?’ I for one rejoice in the fact that I have both a British and an Australian passport. But when I grew up the famous Jenolan caves were regarded as four thousand years old, not millions of years. It was without doubt a Biblically based society. Even though I didn’t come from a church family, nobody believed the Australian Aborigines had been here 60 to 70,000 years, the now popular basis for their claim to have always owned Australia, and to be Indigenous.
So, let’s throw a serious question out there – how long do you have to be in a country to be ‘indigenous’? It is easy to prove aborigines have not always been here, and they did come from India*, so they did not start as indigenous by any current definition. So how long were they here before they became indigenous? A decade, a century, a millennium? Perhaps it is time to consider anybody who is born in a country and grows up there as “indigenous”. Anybody who has worked with aborigines knows full well their culture has no concept of 6,000 or 60,000 years. These are ‘white fella’ European evolutionist lies about the evolution of aborigines, which political activists among the aborigines are now using at one end to ‘take back their land’, or at the furthest extreme ‘get rid of Australia’, and in doing so may bring chaos and even war to one of the most peaceful nations on earth – the land Downunder.
Perhaps you should be like us at Creation Research who really do acknowledge the traditional owners of the land – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Who alone can grant peace and harmony, first to the individual, then to community and nation.

‘In the beginning – about 13.8 billion years ago – there was nothing. There were no atoms or molecules, and no forces. Then, suddenly, for no reason at all – Bang! Everything came into existence, and began to expand.
But that slow expansion can’t explain how all of space in the universe is about the same temperature, so a few millionths of a second after that Big Bang, everything went fizz and expanded very, very rapidly indeed for another few millionths of a second before it all returned to its earlier slow expansion. And scientists called this fizz Cosmic Inflation, and saw that it was good – well, perhaps not that good, but at least it made the difficult sums work out – mostly.
Yes, I am being satirical. That’s because it is a mythology that deserves to be satirized. Because not even the story I have given you is enough! Somehow, there had to be heat energy at the end of the inflation period, but the processes so far described would have resulted in a cold universe – “a cold, homogeneous goop”, as one scientist put it. So Big Bang cosmogonists have to further theorize that a reheating phase had to happen to get all the material in the new universe into a form that could expand to form our current universe.

‘There is often a difference between the exemplary work carried out by evolutionary scientists and the unmerited spin that they choose to put on their observations. One recent article on a popular science website, announcing that there are many Earth-like planets throughout the galaxy, is a case in point. The article features brilliant work done on analyzing the chemistry of atmospheres around certain white dwarf stars. This can be done only by spectroscopy. Results show a good many elements present – silicon, magnesium, carbon, oxygen, and iron. The iron, in particular, appears to be oxidized. We should congratulate such scientists on the quality of their work.
Where they let themselves down is an insistence that all such data should be interpreted in an evolutionary way. The researchers assume that all of these elements came, not from the star, but from shattered planets and asteroids that once orbited the star and were pulled apart by the star’s gravity. They suggest, therefore, that the broken planets must have been Earth-like – and, hence, could obviously once have had life, like Earth does.
Even more telling is that the article’s author does not understand the science involved. “When iron is oxidized, it shares its electrons with oxygen, forming a chemical bond between them,” opines the author, even though the researcher correctly explains the oxidation in terms of electron transfer rather than sharing.

‘The instruments that scientists are using to develop fusion energy continue to become more complex and powerful. They are trying to generate the energies needed to cause hydrogen to fuse into helium. This is the same process thought to be going on in the sun. Once the fusion process is started, it will continue on its own as long as hydrogen is available, quickly generating much more energy than was used to start the process. Hydrogen fuel is easily and cheaply generated from seawater.
Scientists have been using lasers to generate the power needed to start the fusion process. In current experimental devices, the hydrogen fuel is held in a hollow glass sphere that is about as big around as a human hair. The sphere must be suspended in mid-air. To reach the 90 million degrees needed to start fusion, 24 lasers with 12-trillion-watt beams are aimed at the sphere.
What do you suppose scientists use to suspend the sphere? They thought of using strands of glass, but then they remembered something even stronger, yet thinner: spider silk. Spider silk has the added benefit of being sticky, so it easily holds the sphere in place.
Despite the impressive technology of fusion experiments, humans often find that they cannot create better materials than those found in nature.
