Was the answer already there when Labor took power? Whatyareckon?

The Daily Telegraph for the 13th of July, 2012 ran the following article SYRIA USES TANKS, HELICOPTERS IN MASSACRE of which only a portion is posted for this blog. The entire article may be read at http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/breaking-news/more-than-100-killed-in-syria-massacre/story-e6freuz9-1226425037674 . The article said “Earlier on Thursday the Britain-based observatory reported that “regime forces pounded Treimsa” killing eight civilians and one Free Syrian Army rebel.
The Syrian Revolutionary General Commission had reported that one of the Treimsa victims was a doctor shot dead while trying to help the wounded.
“The village school was totally destroyed,” a Hama-based activist calling himself Abu Ghazi told AFP via Skype.
“Every month, there is a major attack somewhere in Hama province. Arbitrary detentions happen every day,” the activist said.
The observatory said more than 17,000 people had been killed since the uprising erupted in March last year.
It is not possible to independently verify death tolls. The United Nations stopped compiling figures at the end of 2011.”
Now all of the above is quoted to say what is occurring in Syria is sad but what does the world expect? A government, whether democratically elected or not is under threat. Think about it. If several thousand Australian citizens rebelled in a war-like manner against the government in power, as the Syrians have, what do you think would occur? If several thousand American citizens rebelled in a war-like manner against the present government, as those in Syria have, how do you think they would be dealt with? Whatyareckon?
Well, the Australian Carbon Tax has been in effect for three days now and no; the sky hasn’t fallen, yet! Would our elected officials lie to us? For instance “Ms Gillard, and indeed not only Greg Combet, but everyone in government from the ALP, to the Greens and the independents, Mr Oakeshott and Mr Windsor, also claim that it is essential to stop CO2 emissions to save the planet. Yet the coal industry is going to continue exporting coal to the world, which will continue using coal in expanding fashion. Other nations that Australia exports coal to will continue to use coal at an expanding rate; this includes China, now the world’s largest CO2 emitter and Australia’s largest market for coal.
So, we have a situation in Australia where Ms Gillard and other people like Mr Combet, claim that Australia’s prosperity will increase if we stop using coal, yet Australia is going to increase exporting coal to foreign nations, primarily China.
Does this mean Australia wants China to be less prosperousObviously this does not make sense. Either Ms Gillard believes what she is saying, in which case she is a fool.
Or she is a liar.” Whatyareckon?

The first of July the Australian people will be burdened with an unnecessary carbon tax. At http://www.auscsc.org.au/ I took part in a poll of which the result is shown above. The majority in this poll and others I have seen do not want this tax so how is it governments ram through policies the people do not want? Where is their shame? Whatyareckon?
While I set in my home office all rugged up just to keep warm on this rather cool Australian winter’s day the Prime Minister of Australia has arrived back home from Rio as a supposed hero of the planet. As I sit here bundled up like an Eskimo Australia is less than one week out from “…the carbon tax starting” and the UN’s head man complimented Gillard saying “…Australia was ‘leading by example’ in addressing climate change.” Yes, Gillard and cronies are leading the way but where is it taking Australia? It certainly will not lead to lower prices!
Yes, the first of July Gillard’s carbon tax which she said her government would not implement takes effect. Gillard and her cronies are certainly leading the way by flitting about the world creating more carbon footprint than the average citizen does in a lifetime.
Hopefully in 2013 Gillard and company will be leading the way out the door to never return! Whatyareckon?
My wife and I have often sat down to watch the ½ hour Australian programme “Border Security”. A description of the show is “Go behind the desk of Australia’s Immigration, Customs, and Quarantine departments with this often emotional, always dramatic reality show. See how the professionals guard the borders of the land down under.”
However, the other night at the Sydney airport customs had a Muslim couple arriving back into Australia after their pilgrimage to Mecca. My wife said “They will not do anything to those people”. This Muslim couple had signed the declaration form stating they did not have anything to declare but the opposite was discovered. Border security didn’t badger the Muslim couple as they have so many others but simply smiled and in the end let them go with a warning.
One comment about the show “Border Security” said “I watched the show for the first time last night. Annoyed to see a couple of Caucasian female chefs caught with all sorts of fresh produce being let off with a warning while an Indian(?) mother and son with corn and cotton was fined $220. Meanwhile some Israeli guy was interrogated for most of the show because he only had his passport as ID. This is the last time I’ll be watching the show.” It does seem Customs at the airport is prejudice.
If you want to enter Australia to visit or to live; it seems it is best not do it the legal way (for this avoids all the badgering one could receive at the airport) but come by a rickety old ship. Just yesterday another 110 were “plucked from the ocean after the overloaded refugee boat…was…capsized” north of Christmas Island. The nationality of those on this boat was not known at the time the story was written but it is almost certain they are persons from an Islamic country.
So, what is my point? It seems those who come illegally on rickety boats without ANY identification, bypass the entire badgering one receives at airport security. Whatyareckon?
The Nanny State; what is it? Wiki Answers says “The term nanny state is a derogatory term used for governments, who are seen to intervene excessively in its citizens lives.
The term would almost certainly be applied by libertarians against countries with welfare states. Where a government sees itself as having an obligation to all aspects of a citizens welfare, such as providing free Health care, Education, unemployment assistance as well as other welfare benefits. They also characteristically have highly developed workplace regulation.
The recent banning of smoking in public places in the United Kingdom and Ireland brought allegations of the nanny state.”
In Australia the Labour government “…is considering ways to make childcare more flexible for families with non-traditional working hours, including a proposal for a dramatic expansion of the government-subsidised nanny scheme.” However, the nanny scheme isn’t new for “…the National In-home Childcare Association – which runs the only government-subsidised nanny scheme – called for the commonwealth to increase the number of places and widen the eligibility criteria to include parents who do shift-work or work prolonged hours.” All of this so more mothers may leave the family and the home and go out to work.
Now, one would not want to be Victorian and interrupt all this with a Bible verse but Titus 2:5 does say that a younger woman, a mother is “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home…” Could some of the social ills that are facing society today be curbed by perhaps following this teaching? Recently the Australian government expelled the diplomatic staff of the Syrian government. They had twelve hours to “get out”. What brought on this action? Supposedly it is because of the killing of “innocent” people in a civil war in Syria.
Now, as I watch the evening news showing Syrian civilians carrying and using all sorts of weapons including rocket launchers the BIG question that comes to mind is where did these civilians obtain all these weapons and where do they aquire the funds to continue purchasing the ammunition?
Perhaps Western nations only agree with and support civilian revolution against a government when it occurs in Muslim countries! Whatyareckon?
