Loose talk about fast bucks to be made in so-called ‘green’ hydrogen has shysters salivating. Much like the characters who have profited from the massive subsidies to utterly pointless wind and solar, the hydrogen huckster knows an opportunity when he sees one.

As Eric Worrall points out below, rebadging hydrogen produced in the conventional fashion (steam reforming or partial oxidation of methane and coal gasification) as “green hydrogen” allows for a substantial uptick in the price charged, with the unwitting consumer none the wiser.

New England home heating and electricity prices are on the rise with no end in sight. Consumers paid record high energy bills last winter, even though the winter was not unusually cold. Shortages of natural gas and green energy policies will drive New England prices higher and raise the chance of electricity blackouts.

Residential energy bills in New England this year were the highest in history. The combination of electricity and natural gas heating bills exceeded $1,000 per month for an average-sized house in Massachusetts, even though winter temperatures in New England were warmer than average.

Eighty percent of homes in New England, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, heat with fuels from oil and gas. In May 2023, New York Senator George Borrello Introduced Legislation to Prohibit Use of Fossil Fuels in Manufacturing of Renewable Energy Equipment. Hypocrisy abounds as top executives at Big Tech companies sign an open letter begging mankind to see the development of artificial intelligence as a “global threat” while continuing to reap the benefits of its development.

The Center for AI Safety published a doom and gloom open letter Tuesday, May 30th calling on leaders to mitigate “the risk of extinction” from the technology by making regulation a “global priority.” The letter specifically warns against the “urgent risks” AI poses to humanity:

“AI experts, journalists, policymakers, and the public are increasingly discussing a broad spectrum of important and urgent risks from AI,” a statement on the website prefacing the letter reads. “Even so, it can be difficult to voice concerns about some of advanced AI’s most severe risks.”
