As the truth gets out, the smugness that comes with owning (and sometimes driving) a Tesla may be harder to maintain than the vehicle itself (see above).

The trope has it that soon we’ll all be auto-piloted by EVs charged by electrons lovingly caressed from sunshine and breezes. Although, if that vision is ever realised, expect to hear more about collisions between stray unicorns and EVs, which is just as likely as an RE-powered all-EV future.

While there’s nothing wrong in theory about all-Electric Vehicles, if they really were a sensible substitute for petrol or diesel-powered vehicles, they’d already be jumping off the shelves. Except, for some strange reason, they aren’t.

But, all that is to ignore where all that gooey greenness comes from. Because at the heart of every lithium-ion battery, whether it’s used to power an all-EV or as a standalone store for electrons lovingly harvested from mother…

Europe is in a world of hurt when it comes to energy.

News outlet Die Welt reported last Sunday that the German government was preparing to deal with backlash from angry citizens who will need to deal with a massive energy crisis come winter.

According to the outlet, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told news broadcaster ARD in July that skyrocketing heating costs are a “powder keg for society.”

You often hear that wind and solar power are cheaper than burning coal or natural gas, so we will save money by switching. But as the song says, it ain’t necessarily so. In fact it is almost never so. That wind and solar are cheaper is at best a half truth, more like an eighth truth.

Here is the reality you never hear of.

That wind and solar are cheaper is true in one way, but it is a small way. It is also a technical way, with the grand name of the “levelized cost of electricity” or LCOE. Now “levelized” is not a word you hear every day, to say the least. This might tip you off that something is going on.

Eco-zealots ram wind and solar power down the throats of Third World governments, purporting to save the planet and drag millions out of poverty. But it never takes their targets long to work out that wind and solar power are both insanely expensive and hopelessly unreliable; sitting in the dark, night after night, generally does the trick.

The wind and solar obsessed in the first world are quite prepared to ensure the World’s poorest stay that way. With economic development agencies peddling ridiculously expensive solar panels – seen as ‘fake electricity’ by those lumbered with it – and forcing tinpot governments to sign up to costly and pointless wind and/or solar power schemes, the ratio of haves to have-nots is likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

New York Times economic columnist Paul Krugman is now pretending to be a climate expert since his economic record on inflation is just awful. Now, he’s celebrating Democrat senators for allegedly trying to “save” civilization from a supposed eco-disaster with their $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act, projected to worsen inflation.

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is currently considering the legislation.

Krugman was tickled pink in his latest drivel headlined: “Did Democrats Just Save Civilization?” In the lead of the story, he fawned: “They really did it.” He continued: “This is a very big deal.
