The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation announced Thursday that Central States Teamsters’ private union pension will receive $35.8 billion in taxpayers’ money.

Behind this bailout is a tragic history of reckless actions by self-seeking unions and muddied political favoritism that allowed the problem to fester for decades unchecked.

This bailout for unions makes taxpayers, future retirees, and many union workers and retirees worse off. Because the bailout doesn’t do a single thing to fix the problems, it incentivizes pension plans to worsen their funding so that they might qualify for a future bailout. What the Biden administration applauds as a “protection” of hard-earned retirement benefits is instead an appalling, no-strings-attached bailout that picks winners and losers.

Instead of fixing the problem, it will make the problem worse.

Chivalry isn’t dead, apparently.

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, major law firm Hogan Lovells hosted a conference call “billed as a ‘safe space’ for women at the firm,” according to then-employee Robin Keller. (One wonders if Hogan Lovells, whose reported invitation language seems to suggest a lack of awareness that we now are a culture of pregnant persons, faced ire for excluding biological females who now identify as male.)

Despite the usual hackneyed hysteria whipped up by renewable energy rent-seekers, nuclear power generation is now front and centre; the obvious long-term solution to Australia’s self-inflicted subsidised renewable energy debacle.

For now, 80% of the electricity that circulates around Australia’s Eastern Grid, will continue to be generated by coal-fired plants. But, with the Labor/Green Alliance in charge – continually ranting and raving about the perceived perils of carbon dioxide gas, our reliable generation system will be treated as public enemy, number one. And Australia’s reliable and affordable power supply will remain under threat.

Enter nuclear power, as the only stand-alone generation source that does not emit carbon dioxide gas during that process.

Any climate warrior jumping up and down about man-made CO2 (they never seem to worry about the naturally occurring stuff)…
