Death and taxes are certainties, so is the fact that power prices soon rocket out-of-control, once your power needs depend on the weather. Ireland is no exception. More than €1.3 billion in subsidies has been thrown at wind power outfits in less than a decade, and with little to shown in return – unless, of course, the object was driving the cost of power into orbit. In which case the Irish have succeeded, with the latest bids for offshore wind power contracts hitting prices close to €150 per megawatt hour, three times the rates prevailing in neighbouring Scotland, and streets ahead of those elsewhere in Europe.

NPR has a Strategic Plan to grow beyond their stereotypical urbane white audience. They announced: “We must expand NPR’s audience to reflect what America will look and sound like in 2021 and beyond, attracting a more diverse audience to our journalism and cultural content, with an emphasis on Black and Hispanic audiences on all platforms.”

This would explain in part why NPR would offer black leftists an open-ended publicity platform. Take, for example, the seven-minute interview on Monday’s Morning Edition with former congressman Keith Ellison, selling a new book on his prosecution of police officers involved in the death of George Floyd in 2020. The book’s title is Break The Wheel: Ending The Cycle Of Police Violence. It’s “an unforgettable reading experience,” says Obama Attorney General Eric Holder in a book blurb.

Apart from wrecking Australia’s reliable and affordable power supplies, there is no Plan A for energy. And there clearly isn’t a Plan B.

The Minister in charge of the current fiasco is Chris Bowen. A man who fails to exhibit any sign of intellect, let alone any indication of insight or wisdom. His maniacal mission to make the delivery of electricity so haphazard and costly starts with wind and solar generation target of 82%. No country in the world has ever got close; once wind and solar account for more than 30% of power delivered to a grid, grid reliability suffers and power prices skyrocket.

Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton recently rattled Bowen when he announced full-blown support for nuclear power. Bowen, exhibiting all the qualities for which he is renowned, called it “a dumb idea for Australia”, and proving, once and for all, that for as long as the Green/Labor…

Renewable energy rent seekers and the wind and sun cult hate nuclear power because it works, 24 x 365, whatever the weather. It doesn’t need batteries and it doesn’t need backup.

Wind and solar, on the other hand, will never amount to meaningful power sources – ever. No amount of finessing the facts can change the sudden and punishing effect of sunset and calm weather on wind and solar output; and the laws of physics and economics mean that claims about giant batteries filling the gaps are simply delusional.

And, speaking of delusional, let’s turn to Australia’s so-called ‘Energy’ Minister, Chris Bowen. A man who’s made mediocrity and baselevel incompetence the hallmark of every ministerial portfolio he has held, Bowen has sunk to levels almost unimaginable, were it not for his past track record.
