For renewable energy rent-seekers, the path to net-zero CO2 emissions targets is lined with endless taxpayers’ gold. These boys don’t get out of bed unless the subsidies are huge and guaranteed to last in perpetuity.

So, it comes as no surprise that the true cost of net-zero carbon dioxide gas emissions targets is out of this world.

Remember this is the same crowd that tells us that wind and solar power are already ‘free’ and getting cheaper all the time, and will easily replace conventional generators with the addition of a few mega-scale lithium-ion batteries. Accordingly, the fact that their numbers are a little rubbery, shouldn’t surprise.

As Benny Peiser points out below, the political pitch for Britain’s net-zero target is based on truly heroic assumptions about the cost of reaching it.
