Omar’s now husband’s ‘…E Street Group is a left-of-center political consulting firm which focuses on communications and data-driven campaigns for progressive candidates. ^[1] The E Street Group was relatively obscure until one of its partners, Tim Mynett, became involved in a public divorce scandal involving an alleged affair with U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

The E Street Group has been heavily involved with Omar’s campaign. As of August 2019, the E Street Group had received over $230,000 from the Omar campaign, most of which was exchanged after Omar had already won her hotly contested primary, even though she faced a noncompetitive general election. ^[6] The E Street Group received more money from the Omar campaign than any other organization aside from the Minnesota Democratic Party, accounting for 10% of all campaign spending between September and December of 2018. ^[7] As of August 2019, the Omar campaign had spent $160,000 at E Street’s services, nearly one in every three dollars spent by her campaign, excluding taxes and transfers to the Democratic Party. ^[8]

In August 2019 the conservative National Legal and Policy Center filed a Federal Election Commission complaint against Omar. The complaint alleges that the money paid to E Street went to fund Mynett’s personal travel expenses related to their affair, rather than to political consulting services, which would constitute a violation of FEC rules. ^[9] Between April 22 and June 11, the Omar campaign transferred 14 payments totaling $70,000 to the E Street Group. ^[10] Six of the payments totaling $12,673.43 were labeled simply as “travel expenses,” which must be itemized according to FEC policy. ^[11] Mynett’s estranged wife has questioned whether the payments made for “travel” to E Street Group were used for private travel, rather than legitimate campaign work. ^[12]

Thus far, the firm has categorically denied all allegations of improper uses of funds paid to it by the Omar campaign. That’s what a conservative instructor told The College Fix in an exclusive interview Monday, hours after his university suspended him from teaching scheduled summer classes because of his tweets.

John Tieso (above) is already considering legal action against the local news station that first connected his Twitter account to his adjunct professor job at Catholic University of America. He hasn’t ruled out suing the university, either.

According to the professor, WUSA9 went digging for dirt on him after it saw one of his tweets. The station reported Wednesday that Tieso’s Twitter account “was removed” after a meeting with his boss, Busch School of Business Dean Andrew Abela, to discuss his allegedly “racially-charged” speech online.

“Your Twitter account has to go if you want to stay a member of the faculty,” Abela (left) told Tieso, according to a phone conversation that Tieso recounted to The Fix. “You really ought to stay off social media for 6 months to let this die down.” Tieso deleted his account shortly after.

Before Tieso shared his communications with The Fix, the administration refused to say whether Abela or any other official issued Tieso an ultimatum to delete his Twitter account or risk losing his job.

Asked to confirm details about Tieso’s suspension and explain what had changed since his conversation with Abela, leading to the suspension, a spokesperson told The Fix: “We have nothing further to add to our earlier statement.”

Tieso’s LinkedIn profile says he’s been teaching at CUA since 2013. In September 2018 he was bumped up to “adjunct assistant professor” from lecturer in management, in which he taught business and data management to undergraduates and health informatics and management to graduate students.

The job is not just a way to keep busy after retiring from careers in the federal government and independent consulting. He relies on the CUA salary to pay for his wife’s medical treatment, Tieso told The Fix in a phone interview.

And he blames WUSA9 anchor Larry Miller for imperiling his livelihood. In May 5 emails between the two men that Tieso shared with The Fix, Miller first asks the professor for an interview without specifying the subject.

Asked for details, Miller responds the subject is “tweets you’ve authored.” Pressed again, the anchor said “[m]ultiple people have reached out to us regarding the nature of these tweets and others like it.”

Miller (below) cited a tweet that he said was dated May 5. It referred to Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris – whose parents are Jamaican and Indian immigrants – as a “former escort.” (Harris has been dogged by accusations since the start of her political career that she dated Willie Brown – at the time the speaker of the California Assembly, twice her age and still married – to kickstart her entry into politics.)

The other tweet referred to a speech by former President Barack Obama in Africa, where he allegedly talked about his wealth. Divisions among communities are now commonplace, often created or exacerbated by Muslim lobby groups that have conditioned leaders and the general public that to disagree with them, or to criticize Islam in any way, means you are “racist,” “Islamophobic,” “intolerant” and the like. ‘Martha McKay was brutally murdered at the Arkansas Snowden House, a colonial style home built in the early twentieth century and the same place where her mother and cousin were murdered 23 years ago by the same man, who she befriended.

McKay had bought the antebellum style house near Horseshoe Lake from her family in 2004 and converted the property into a bed and breakfast.

According to People, McKay had been stabbed and beaten to death on the top of the stairs on March 25.

She was found next to a bag full of her belongings.

When authorities were called to the scene, a man was seen fleeing through a window before jumping into a car and driving into the yard, getting stuck in the process.

Police gave chase to the suspect following the brutal murder of 63-year-old McKay, but later pulled the drowned body of the man, after he jumped into the lake, convicted for the violent double-murder of McKay’s mother, Sally Snowden McKay, 75, and her cousin, Joseph “Lee” Baker, 52.

Lewis was sentenced to 28 and a half years behind bars, with McKay’s family fighting against the death penalty.

When Lewis was granted parole in 2018, McKay gave the convicted murderer a job on the property.

However, it was revealed that McKay had fired Lewis before the gruesome murder after accusing him of theft after the sale of an unused chandelier for $10,000.

Lewis, who was present on the day of the sale, was accused of stealing the 5-figure sum as the funds had simply “vanished.”

McKay, a longtime practicing Buddhist, had reportedly visited Lewis several times when he was in prison, despite the disapproval of her family. She had even written to Lewis while he was behind bars and supported his parole.
